Aye, the more the Chinese manufacturers realise the demand for 'old school' weapons the better. I'll have one of everything please.
I've pre ordered an stg 44. Although my mp40 is the best wearon for CQB, no rattling hi caps, and short and iconic. I've gone for the 44, it's still half the price of a Tanake boltie, but more importantly for me, when I play at regular walk on days (I have to I'm a marshal) I can now wear my feldgraus happily and have a weapon that can take on regular AK's and M4's. In fact As I'll be one of the few here who will use the high caps, when the mid caps come out if anyone will have high caps they want to part with in disgust, pm me and I'll have them. For those of us still involved with the great unwashed of airsoft, it's a weapon we can really use to return the firefight of a regular days hosefest.
LOVE my MP40 and with mid-caps i can keep up with the rest of the field. Good for woodland, good for urban. I like the look of the MP44 but won't even think of getting one until the mid-caps come out and even then, I'm hoping that a Sten appears first. IMHO if you can get kills with 90-100 mids then you really need o learn to shoot
Also love my M1A1 though so why bother... ??
I'll use one if the scenario is sympathetic to it, but if it's a pre '44 game then I wont - end of story. Hicaps will be fine for open days, but a 100 to 130 round Midcap would be my preference. Mind you, I am tempted to get two of them. One, to convert to a MKb.42 due to my liking for strange weaponry.
When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........

Will it not qualify as an MP42 or MP43 look-a-like? I think you might exclude a number of potential Punters if you dont accept it as a look-a-like?

The only really visible differences between the MP43/1 and MP43 is that the MP43/1 had a slightly longer muzzle nut and the later MP43 had the front section of barrel behind the front sight turned smaller to accommodate the grenade launcher designed for the K98, plus a slightly smaller front sight body. The MP43 and MP44 are virtually identical with the exception that the integral scope mounting rail on the MP43 usually has a notch cut into it and the MP44 doesn't, so the MP44 would certainly pass as an MP43/1 or MP43 "lookalike". All of the MP43/1, MP43 and MP44 are almost identical to the MKb 42(H), (which was later called the MP43B once they adopted the closed bolt and hammer firing system from the Walther MKb 42(W) into it), with the only great exceptions on the MKb 42(H) being the gas tube being the same length as the barrel, the inclusion in that design of a bayonet attachment point and a slightly different front sight. The pistol grip and lower receiver are also very slightly different. Not a million miles off, and much nearer than an AK47
Hehe, those are good points!
Still, someone is going to argue that those early versions were never seen in battle so I thought I might look at what happened to pre-MP44 distribution.
8,000 of MKb42(H) went to the Eastern Front
1,500 of MP 43 A went to Heeresgruppe Nord
Sometime after Oct '43 30,000 MP 43's a month were ordered to be produced
By the end of the war 450,000 variants has been produced,
(Above figures vary according to source but meh, it's illustrating a point)
Given that we play in groups of 20 men or so (not an entire army) then it's quite possible one team stumbles across jerry who have been issued with early versions as part of trials, esp Eastern Front scenarios.
Anyhoo, the good news is that three CiA games this year will be perfect for MP44 use and only one where it's appearance would be incongruous!
Now then, I wonder if we will see a 'Vampir' tricked up version at the Die Glocke game??

One player to use the Vampir, 19 to carry the batteries
Ah yes, they should have invented Duracell AA batteries first, then the Vampir
In Finland we did limit MG:s and sniper rifles in some scenarios, and it worked fine, no crying like "why I cant use my supergun?". It's not impossible to limit use of StG44 also, like 1-3StG/10 player in game rules. And - as said - everyone even doesn't want to use StG, at least all the time, I really love my Tanaka kar98k, when the temperature is high enough. It's really great to have StG soon, but I'm still waiting G43...

So we're not visiting the Volga? Did Guy throw us a dummy?

I was hoping you'd say one to add a Krummlauf attachment to.... you know you want to!
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
I can see now waves of Germans at Die Glocke with STG44s with improvised ZG 1229 vampir optcis
Steve.D
Considering i dont have a single german weapon yet i would certainly say use the correct weapons from when the games are set. I certainly want an mp44 as i have always liked them having handled real steel versions as said elsewhere, but i wouldnt feel right using one in a game set in say '42', which means i will likely get a mp40 too, if there was an affordable KAR98 that wasnt shell eject i would be tempted by that too, just wish i had the money hehe
Hope really, that someone will make descent magazines to StG, at start I will check how to convert easily StG hicap to regular mag...
cant see why i would need anything else
Need? Need? Since when have we needed kit? This is a hobby built on wants not needs!
Stens and grease guns are shabby bits of kit but meh, that's what they used so it's not an issue of attractiveness for me. Just a love of everything about the era and the fact that there is still a small corner of the garage that hasn't been filled yet!
Yes always space for one more or is that 6
Free speech is expensive these days!

I quite like them actually, I think they have a simplistic charm, I'm probably just being simple.
I hear a lot of people saying they'll stick with their MP40s, but it's a lot more unrealistic for more than one in ten players to have an MP40 than for a whole squad to have MP44s. With selective fire, I think the MP44 will allow people to choose semi and use it as a more usable option to the ejecting K98s. I have no problem with site organisers planting a "semi only" on those using MP44s to simulate bolt actions and semis like the G41/G43.
I have a really nice question cuz Im confused, agm stg/mp44's are avaible already to purchase some where? could anny one post the link to it?
PS: here in my country no one is using ww2 weapons on skirmishes Im the only one whit my tanaka k98 and my luger (a few guys buy the we tech lugers cuz they already have seen my luger in national games and they were envy but they dont use em) what ever Im planing to buy a mp40 and then a stg44 is nice to know that the chinese are working in new models I have dreaming since I got the tanaka k98 it could move to stens cheap mg42 and my favorite a skirmisheble Browning HP dont be rude on the poor chinese they at some point would build some low caps for stg44 I hope so haha
Ps I speak spanish xD
