I have a Cyma Thompson and it's great. Very acurate, power is 320 fps, the battery last's all day. The wood (plastic) is not too bad either. I have fitted a gen wood kit from a military fare and it now looks the real deal. If you buy the Cyma just give it a good clean out as it's packed with grease. I got mine from Action hobbys, with next day service!
:good:
Rob.

Lt. Morris Schaffer: "Second rate punk," eh?
Major John Smith: Sorry. All I could think of on the spur of the moment.
Lt. Morris Schaffer: Thanks, that makes it even worse.

TM is made in Japan, I would personaly pay the extra, its got a nice gearbox & quality hop unit, a good motor & the finish on the metal looks like steel rather than matt black paint, minus point is the TM its about 280 fps out the box, the Cyma can be anything FPs wise but somtimes it needs downgrading as they can be over 350fps, the TM is wired for the big battery type plugs, the Cyma aint, either way they are both fairly good,

I've got a CYMA. And theres absolutly nothing wrong with it. its brilliant! and I only paid £90 for it of CRW airsoft. I've never owned a TM one So i dont know anything about them. But it has to be said if u've got the money the TM, not being a clone will probably be better. If youve got another £100 to spend get the TM if you want to pay less get the CYMA theres only gonna be a few things not as good as its more expensive counterpart.

I've got both and they're both fine the main difference is the fps, as has been said the TM runs about 280fps and I'm considering upgrading mine and the CYMA can run as high as 380fps which means you'll not be able to use it on some sites. A number of people on these forums have already cut down the springs in their CYMAs to get the fps into a more acceptable range.

I'm surprised that no-one on here has said about the weak barrel brace on the TM. The CYMA one has extra material added to the weak spot on the brace to reduce the chance of the snap occurring. I've a CYMA Thompson, and remember; you can cut down the CYMA spring to make it a lower FPS, but there's nothing you can do to the original TM spring to get it higher  . Oh, and the gearbox components inside the CYMA are on par, if not higher than the quality inside the TM, IMHO.

Lots of people go on about the TM barrel problem and how it's much worse if you use a sling, but mines been fine I carry it on a sling all the time and it's not gone. I should say that I made a point of tightening up the screws that hold the barrel on that was after putting a small amount of tape where the barrel fits onto the revciever so that it's nice and tight.

The extra metal on the Cyma barrel is still soft alloy, I doubt it makes little diffrence strength wise, no substitute for the headshot repair kits which should fit either, both gearboxes benefit from metal bushings & a metal bearing spring guide,

I still think the Cyma barrel is the stronger of the 2 lets face it they made it that way for a reason and I haven’t heard of one snapping yet!
Battery terminals are also easy to change and the gears in the Cyma are probably steel not TM chocolate.

Remember Steve changes all his TM gears over to steel as a matter of course, however I have a TM and I think it still has standard gears but not sure as I gave it to Ste to do some work on because out the box the FPS was junk so the range was hopeless to the point of total disappointment when I first got it several years ago.

woah woah, don't go cutting springs and what not to get the fps on a cyma down, just keep running hi-caps though it.

Mine was 380 out of the box and i skirmished with it (proviso of a minimum engagement distance), within a few skirmishes (maybe 20-30 hicaps) it was down to 290-310.

i then fitted an element 6.04 barrel and now shes at a constant 340-ish

Do you like my little tank?

Some do and some don't! Mine is second hand, used all of GMA's D-Day weekend, used at open-day skirmishes and still fired 360-370fps when I got it. I ran 5 hi-caps through it and it went down by 5fps :slap: Then I cut off two coils worth and flatted down the spring end as good as new and got it down to 345-350fps, still to high for my local site and taste. I flatteded off another half a coils worth at each end of the spring and ran about 5 more hi-caps through it at open-day skirmishes and it's only just down below 330fps now!

I'd agree with what has been said above with regards FPS, mine (CYMA) sits at 360, but it's no problem at my local site. The one thing that hasn't been mentioned much though is that the TM hop is ratcheted on the adjuster, and the CYMA one isn't, which does tend to have you fiddling with the hop all bloody day as it randomly moves due to the vibration from firing the gun. Other than that, it's a monster. It ranges with my systema M4, but doesn't have the accuracy at it's farthest range (no suprise I guess). I'm also a bit pissed at the CYMA high caps, which tend to stick a lot, causing intermittent fire which then requires giving the mag a thump off of the nearest log. ;)

Hmmm, I do think it varies quite a bit form gun to gun. All my CYMA hi-caps feed lovely - not a bit of sticking and the hop adjustment is as solid and non-slippy as my G3s. Luck of the draw I guess, but generally very good.

T'is always the risk of cheapsoft, you do get huge variences. I got the CYMA AK74, and it's a cracking gun, at the same time, two of my friends got 'em, and had nothing but problems. Hell, it's not an exact science airsoft eh? :p

Well..I've got both ACM AEG's and TM. Ive got a Cyma AKS74U and its a quality product, but it is the luck of the draw. With TM you get consistant products. I have an upgraded TM Thompson and its great.

Buy a TM ...but if cash is the issue get the CYMA, im sure you wont be disappointed either way.
