Can anybody point me in the right direction as to a reliable replacement for the Top bellows system in their MP40?
Has anyone done this and would mind doing another (for suitable amounts of coin of the realm of course!)???
Thanks!!!!
PGC did a replacemnt for the TOP system, I'll try and find links...
UNCompany have them instock - M100 or M130

Isn't it cheaper to just buy a chinese one?
Isn't it cheaper to just buy a chinese one?
Would be normally but I bought one a couple of years back. Just want to make it skirmishable and more reliable now.
Yeah but isn't it cheaper to just accept it's a door-stop and get a Chinese one for £80?
Kermit is the only guy I know who has a working one - he's the man with the answers!
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
GnG stock the PGC gearbox conversion for the TOP MP40, works out at £77 without shipping..bite the bullet, use the TOP for a wallhanger and buy a chinese MP40
I've got a working Top MP40, with the new PGC gearbox ect, and use it from time to time when I need spare guns to loan out, it was a pian in the A** to convert and cost a lot of time, effort and money. I've also got a chinese £80 one and I find it much better, although its slightly less good looking. Stop wasting your time and get a Chinese one would be my advice, up to you though, although I seem to remember that the conversion cost me more than the gun itself.
I also have a fully working PGC'd Top MP40. They are expensive (you also have to by a set of std AEG gears, a cylinder and an TM AK motor. They are also a bugger to setup and shim properly.
I have to agree with everyone else, get a ACM MP40, you can probably merge the best bits of both to get 1 very nice skirmishable weapon. The other benefit of the ACM is the semi-auto option, historically inaccurate but quite handy in a skirmish!
If you do wanna go the PGC route, better get one quick as they are now discontinued and becoming harder to get. WGC dont have any anymore, and I wouldnt be suprised if GnG are actually out of stock too. Firesupport in the UK do have them: http://www.fire-support.co.uk/store/com ... oduct=1827 but £240 Ouch!

Hi Corumba!! You'r not joking, thats a BIG ouch!!
Reckon I'll just get a spare set of bellows and use it on high days and holidays, and as you guys say stick to a Chinese airsoft.
This may sound bonkers but would the ACM MP40 internals fit the Top?

Very possibly, as the chinese is basically a copy of the TOP. you would need to use the ACM gearbox, trigger and hop unit and probably mags also but I wouldnt be supprised if the gearbox mount points on the lower frame are the same. Well worth a good look. If i hadn't already spent a fortune on the PGC box for mine before the ACM's came out, thats what I would have tried!
I would certainly be interested to know if it is do-able!
BTW I have spare bellows and gears sat in my draw at home which you can have for a tenner if you are interested?

I'll drop you a PM.
Cheers!

I have a TOP MP40, which I've had in bits for soo long .....
Re a previous discussion with Herr Kermit, some of the M60/M249 upgrade parts fit straight into the MP40 ...
" ... AK motor, with Guarder pinion gear for M249 - will fit MP40
Guarder M249 bearing spring guide fits MP40 gearbox shell. ANGS spring guide will not fit.
Guarder and standard M249 pistons look the same as that fitted in the MP40, however the bellows in the MP40 are a smaller diameter than fitted to the M249 from a cursory inspection.
Notable differences between the TOP M249 gears and MP40 gears. The spur gear on the MP40 is an absolute behemoth!
ANGS M249/M60 upgrade springs will fit the TOP MP40 ... "
... which would be a relatively cheap route to producing acceptable performance.
However, having acquired a spare ACM MP40 g/box, I've also been looking at fitting that.
* The mounting holes don't quite line up - sortable
* The TOP hop unit is not compatible with the 'normal' gearbox/nozzle - would need to fettle/fit a standard hop unit (not such an issue as TOP unit is poor)
* In changing the hop unit, the feed tube for the bb's becomes closer to the rear of the mag housing - mag feed plate can be reversed and internals of the mag should be reversable so again theoretically do-able
* The metal 'spur' that slides into the gearbox and is secured by the twist knob under the receiver is bigger on the TOP so would need to be fettled to fit the ACM box - would have to be done well to ensure a tight fit, as this in effect holds the gun together.
* The 'bakealite' sides have the screw holes in different places and may end up looking 'scrappy' if made to fit.
That's just what I've found so far .......
Yes, an ACM box is do-able but if the ANGS/Guarder parts are available, they may well be an easier option. My concern would be reliability of the upgraded unit but with the slowish RoF and lo-caps, it should be acceptable.
