Looks like Japanese rather than Chinese on their website but I'm not 100% sure.
Its not Japanese,as I said earlier I have Viva email. they don't have a mainstream retailer. Hence being as rare as rocking horse.
I just tracked their IP and it looks like they`re based in HK.
I really must get a site registration sorted, it's just not right me in a Wiltshire Regiment uniform carrying an M1A1 Thompson. Still it's sounding a tad pricey to me at the moment but then again I have just had to do loads of work to the house including a new kitchen plus my wedding is at the end of next month! That could be why I'm a little touchy about money.
Wedding Present!
Ah now oddly enough I can go one better than that as she's been encouraging me to get an FAC, join the Lee Enfield Rifle Association and get a live No4 Mk1. Double trouble as not only can I use it for target shooting but also for blank firing during re-enacment events/private battles.
We'll see.....

Actually you may not be able to use it for both. I seem to remember hearing that the FAC covers you for one, but not the other. You can't use the same gun for both.. Best to check before you get stung! I'm no expert, it's just something I read on a forum and I may be totally wrong!
you wont be able to use it for both, live and blank firing are very different animals.it is an offence to have a projectile weapon in a public place unless its in a proper gun cover.this includes AEG, air weapon, shot gun and full bore rifles.

I think you'll find that does not apply to reenactment events, public or private. I know of loads of people who take live rifles to reenactment displays and battles. The offence is having it in a public place without good reason.
EDIT: You will also find that most events take place on private land, so the law does not apply as you have the owners permission to have said weapon on your display. Although the public may well be there, it is not considered a public place.
Just had an e-mail from a supplier in China giving details on the Sten. Same pictures and specs as previously posted. Have asked for a price so we'll see what he says. Don't know why he contacted me but he seems to have some nice stuff. Also asked about the MP44 to see what price he might be able to supply those for. Will keep you all posted.
Hi Folks
I can put you all out of your misery because I'm in China talking to Viva Arms right now. The Sten MKII is real albeit being produced in a very small factory with a high proportion of the gun being CNC'd, therefore time consuming to build.
I'll be totally honest with you and say that it's priced way too high. Our export agent who deals with only airsoft products confirmed my opinion, I didn't prompt the response either. We reckon that if they are built by CYMA or AGM, they will be about half the price. They have yet to be tested, including the LiPo packs which are a very dodgy battery technology to buy from China. There's a few people here been killed by their cellphone LiPo batteries exploding, if you don't believe me, Google it.
We believe that Viva are attempting to introduce a major price hike to get more in line with airsoft pricing in Japan where most airsoft guns are sneaked in from for them to copy. So, it's a dangerous thing to encourage this by buying up shedloads and basically showing China that Western people are either impatient or desperate enough to fork out a lot of dosh for a Chinasoft.
Anyhoo, we've got them and will be sea freighting them in to arrive in about 5 weeks from today. They will also be available to our wholesale customer base at a price that will allow the retail sector to sell it at around £275, depending on the currency strength and ever fluctuating shipping costs (mainly due to the bribes that have to be paid to get them out of China).
They'll be up on the web site for pre-order once I manage to get a decent photo of it myself. Action Hobbies will have them at the same time as us.
There is also a very distinct possibility that another version will be available very soon (approx 3-4 months) which will be at least £100 cheaper. We asked AGM last May to make it for us but all the Olympics security issues caused a lot of problems for the Chinasoft industry and the delays and mould seizures put a stop to that for now. AGM's MG42 was supposed to be released last December! Which is their next one BTW.......then the PPSh-41

Cheers for that Steve.
I did choke at the price of the stens
I think I can hang on and wait to see if the cheaper ones poke their heads out.
On the topic of different companies offering a Sten, I happen to be releaseing one as of June1st.
It is an AEG full metal Sten MKIII built on original deactivated Sten MKIII parts kits. It will use the version 7 gearbox and will come with one modified reall Sten magazine that uses Mp-40 magazine internals.
I try to keep my final cost as low as possible becuase there are far too many guns that cost an arm and a leg. As of right now I am sourceing Sten parts kits and am working out the final sale price.

I guess we'll have to be careful over here though with doing it that way... I suspect that a lot of the deac bits for stens available in the US would not be legal to own over here?
Oh and on the Lipo exploding thing... It's a very controversial issue... it seems that all the deaths due to lipos exploding in China have since been declared as being due to other reasons not associated with the batteries or phones... well whether that is the Chinese government covering up is an interesting one...
Whatever the case, you do have to be careful with lipo's, but whether they will actually blow up is another thing altogether.
BTW, I had a NiMH cell melt in my MkV S&S Sten a couple of weeks ago due to a short... that could have set the gun on fire... there was smoke. So not even they are immune from problems.
bloody typical,,,,, you wait years for a sten, then 3 come along at once. a bit like buses.
Only 3...
I can count about 6 at least in the last year...
Heh, don't type in 'lipo battery fire' into YouTube - scary stuff! I have no personal knowledge of lipo but always willing to try something new!
Being on fire is quite a different thing from exploding.
None of the Sten parts I use for the airsoft guns could ever be converted to fire again. They are so modified they no one could ever make them work again. I also Mill my own recivers made specifically for airsoft internals so no worries on the reall gun parts end.

Fire or explosion will still mean the end of a nice Sten though and collateral damage too! I'll probably take care to charge in a combustion-free zone, just in case

Cheers Steve - can you get them to put a 1J spring in as well so the first thing we have to do isn't pull the sodding thing into tiny pieces? That, plus a price of £275 would have me very interested. Especially as it's steel over a cheapsoft pot metal version.
