Sorry if this is generalising, but it seems to me that to a lot of Americans, it's useless if the FPS is below 400.

I'll reserve judgement until mine's in my hands. Though I use a TM M1911A1, so it's got a lot to live up to!

2ndBat over on the American forums said it looked nice but was a paperweight. If you are only getting 4 shots to a fill and or it is leaking like a submarine with screen doors it is disappointing. I was really hoping it would be better.

u sure thats the WE one? and not the tanaka? otherwise ......CRAP!....i guess ill have to wait for a webley :P

2ndbat is one of the more senior, more reliable members of WW2aa. I still hope he's wrong or that the unit he got was just a lemon because i had/have high hopes for this gun. Or maybe it'l be an easy fix. But if the WE BHP does turn out to be cr@p, i'll probably get the excellent but expensive full metal ksc system 7 CZ75 as a stand in for it. I really need a back up pistol when using my MG42 or my Kar98 for close encounters. The WE luger doesn't shoot very well nor is it accurate at all. I still am hoping that the WE BHP will be a much better alternative.

I think it was over on the Zeroin forum, but I read they were considering an AFTERMARKET part (i.e. a slide kit) to make that version.

One is definitely on my shopping list. As to the fill valve issues, it wouldn't be the first time i've had to replace them on out-of-the-box WE's.

Received mine today. :)

It seems like the mag doesn't fill completely, but all 20 rounds are fired.
Also, it looks to me like there's no hop, so it'll be interesting to see how the BBs fly.

Fortunately, my next skirmish day is this coming Saturday, so mine's going to get its first outing.

BTW, while it goes into a 37 pattern holster OK (mine is one of the offset-popper types), the rear sight catches a bit on the way out, making it harder to draw.

Some additional info:

This gun has a "magazine safety". For those that don't know what that is, it means the gun won't release the hammer unless a magazine is in the gun.

That can cause a problem if you don't empty your mag of gas, but want to ease the hammer spring at the end of the day.

Someone over on the Zeroin forum mentioned something that solves this problem on the real steel, and I tried it on my WE Browning - it works.

It looks like the trigger uses the mag as wedge to engage on the mechanism.
Inserting your finger up the mag well and pressing on the back of the trigger while it is pulled allows the mechanism to release the hammer. I had to use my middle finger to reach that far.

Another interesting feature is the slide locking safety:
I noticed there is a second safety notch in the slide. When pulled back for field stripping, the slide can be locked back using the safety lever in the second notch while you remove, or reinsert, the slide lock.

Got mine today. It's got a nice heft to it, mostly supplied by the magazine and it points really well, just as it should. No problems filling the magazine with gas and, once filled, it fired every round without fault. The trigger pull is a lot longer than I recall the real HP being but, not that bad. Nice "kick" to it and, on green gas with .2g ammo, I put every round into a paper plate at 20 metres. So, whether it has a hop or not (and, it probably does!), no problems with accuracy. So, for a sidearm, I have no complaints.

Mine has no hop as supplied. There's no protrusion down into the barrel:

According to someone on the Zeroin forum, there's a place for a hop grub screw (M3) UNDER the breech. :?
I have looked, and there is indeed a hole, but no screw (2 holes, actually, but the forward one hold the barrel in).
Pushing something into the hole does move the rubber up. How does that work as a hop?

It won't work as a hop. I've just had mine apart and, it looks like it's fixed hop rubber, similar to Marushin M1 carbine hop rubbers. Which makes it a bit of a lottery re: ammo weight, gas used and magazine temperature. I have wrapped a couple of layers of teflon tape where the hop rubber meets the barrel and the fps seems to have gone up, although I don't have a chrono to confirm this.

Er.... my Marushin M1 Carbine definitely has an adjustable hop... I spent several minutes adjusting it before Devil's Hill.

 Ok, perhaps I should have said "like SOME" Marushin M1 carbines then.

If it won't work as a hop, what's the point of the hole?

I have no idea. Perhaps someone with a Tanaka HP can answer?
