Trying to decide my next development project (which I'll be running parallel with the bolt-action I'm making).
FG42, VG-15, PIAT or EM-1?
Some are more complicated than others, some I have already drawn up plans for so this may bias my decision a bit! But I am keen to know what the WW2 Airsoft community wants and I'm after a project that will sell several units.
Thanks for the feedback in advance gents!

I vote fg42, always wanted to see an airsoft version
I'm sure the fallschirmjäger lot would love an fg42
Regards,
Ralph
Would definitely be interested in a FG42, I am sure from a commercial point of view if your were able to get something then you could expect a few orders.
Jay851 made a functioning airsoft FG42, several years ago. Beautiful thing, made with CNC'ed aluminium and parts from a Shoei FG42.
When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
PTRD anti-tank rifle...?
Sounds like the FG42 would be popular... not entirely surprised and as I want one myself....
Would people prefer the Version one or Version two? For those not familiar, the V1 is on top in the attached picture, V2 below. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c ... a/FG42.jpg
Also, would there be interest in a basic model: Semi/full auto only and slightly simplified shape that could be upgraded to the higher detail model later on?
I'd love to do an AT rifle Askhati, I'm trying to work out what ammunition it can use though, 6mm BBs just don't seem right!

It's a no brainer, FG42.
An airsoft FG42 would be very popular. All the other options would have more limited appeal. I bet theres even a few 'normal' airsofters who would love an FG42 after playing the wolfenstein games
An fg42 may tempt me into starting a German kit

PTRD has the advantage of being 90% tubes welded together - I'd predict very little fancy machining required, and no woodwork (apart perhaps from the pistol grip).
For game use, I would deploy it Berget-style as an anti-material rifle: give it a boost to max FPS, but have a Marshal accompany the shooter as a Spotter at all times to ensure the correct minimum engagement ranges are adhered to. Use it to harass static weapons emplacements, and enclosed vehicles.

FG42 would also be cool
I'd love see a PIAT, but I'm with everyone else on this one: an FG42 would be very popular!
'ABSIT OMEN'
Shoei are making a run of fg42's aegs atm. Now a piat you have my attention!

Fair comment, I think it would have to be a made-to order gun though rather than a production run!
Looks like the FG42 is the gun people really want! I think I can compete with Shoei, I did some maths and their model, if an AEG rather than a blank firer, will be £800 +shipping from Japan+VAT. Also, I'm local for after-sales service...
Not to mention the problems with proprietary magazines and availability of these..

be cool to see what you come up, as long as you dont price it like a shoei it will be a good project i am sure.
The fg42 has been on my books for ages ,it recently surfaced again with a possible source of woodwork but at the moment I won't be making any till next year and if shoei make them possibly not then either.good luck with them .

Give me a big enough hammer and a place to stand and I could fix the world.
i'll kill a man in a fair fight or if i think he's going to start a fair fight or over a woman or.......
a problem shared is a problem halved ,but an advantage shared is no advantage at all
if a job's not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well
Type 2 FG42....
Type two FG42 it is chaps. I'll let you fellows know progress on the development as it happens!

Please just use a standardized after-market mid-cap magazine - something like an M14 mag (which looks 90% correct already). The usability of any milsim gun is directly proportional to the ease with which one can get spare mags!
Don't worry, I was going to! It's my pet hate when manufacturers insist on a proprietary magazine with no alternatives available. I may make a more 'correct' non-functional magazine if needs be for re-enactment purposes.
On that note, if anyone has a knackered old metal M14 magazine and would like to put it towards this hopefully worthy cause... I will of course pay happily!
