As the chances of me getting around to fab'ing a mk2 sten become less likely, I'm trying to like my Thompson - don't know what it is, just can't seem to 'connect' with the weapon .....

Possibly a wood kit will help it feel 'right' - question is which one ... ??

I'm probably looking at an early-war 1928/Commando stylee, any suggestions for best kits/prices ?

I'm assuming the battery still fits in the stock, do any take 9.6v units ?

Cheers for any input

I hear the wood kits from RSOV fit the best including the butt plate but the colour of the wood looks not to good, I recon you could sand them & re stain it, keep it on a 8.4v, if you want it to fire faster upgrade the motor to a TM EG1000,

1928 Kit... gorgeous.

CAW M1928 Wood stock, foregrip and pistol grip ... CAW make the best wood kits I have seen for ANY gun! (the only thing I've seen better is a S&S No4 and that has real-steel wood... heh.)
Mosquito Moulds M1928 Barrel and Receiver.

Not usually in stock at HK sellers, but put in a stock reminder and they should become available eventually. Persevere... Mine took me several months to get.

Problem is... this could cost you almost

All good advice ....

Price is always an issue unfortunately - as the Thompson is not a 'main' gun then spending mega bucks on it isn't an option.

Warren's Stens are excellent pieces of work but not what I'm after - has to be a mk 2 AND with standard mags, no hi-caps or similar winding arrangement; which is where the main issue lies, re having to turn the hop unit etc.

I might try just fab'ing a wooden front grip arrangement first, just to see if it does feel any better, before spending serious money :?

I made my own wood kit - alot cheaper than buying a CAW kit or the like - only disadvantage is that the trigger grip is impossible to self-make due to the outer skin of wood being so thin
bought real wooden horizontal foregrip and Buttstock for my TM M1A1

Foirgrip screws straight on

Buttstock not so handy - had to hollow it out with chisels and electric carving tool - not recommended for the faint hearted or those with no woodwork skills BUT end result in terms of weight and look amazing

will post pics of the work later
