As some of you may know my VFC BAR packed up after firing less than a mag at St Lo, when I got home it got chucked in a pile with a number of other 'broken' aegs that are awaiting my attention.
Today I decided to see if I could identify the problem so I stripped the box expecting to see allsorts of nasty things, such as stripped gears, however the gearbox is in immaculate condition no sign of wear or damage
before stripping the box I'd tested the motor to make sure that wasn't the problem and it spun up fine, so I put it all back together, pulled the trigger and as before the motor was attempting to turn but the gearbox seemed locked, thing is it sounded just like one of the chinese M14s where the wiring had been reversed, so for no logical reason, (keep in mind this had been working ok on the several times I'd tested it and for the first part of the St Lo game), I reversed the connections to the motor, and low and behold the bloody thing worked
so the question to all you aeg gurus out there is how the feck could this have happened, and before anyone asks, I'm 100% certain that I didn't reverse the motor connections while I was working on it.

Could the battery be the wrong way around?
It's not a battery issue, the gun packed up while using it in the game, I then went back to the safe zone and tried 2 spare batteries that I had, (I'd checked them in the gun the day before), I also got someone to check the batteries out in their gun and they all worked. As I said really weird, I don't really expect an answer as there isn't a logical one, or certainly none I can think of, I just thought I'd share this strange problem and see if it messed up your head as much as it has mine ![]()

Pete,
When you stripped the mechbox to check if all was well, could you have installed the Anti-Reverse latch in the wrong way round.??????
P.S.
Forget the above. stupid statement, ( forgot to engage brain)>

Pete. Speak to Doug, he's fixed his BAR, that he bought broken. There's a number of design flaws, such as enlignment issues. The motor isn't powerful enough. Now that its been sorted, it shoots straight, super far, and shows no sign of giving up.
The guy that he bought it from, piled in hundreds to try and sort the issue, each time it broke again or didnt fix the issue. Took Doug 1 week, and it was fixed.
I dont think its that simple matt, i think theres different flaws with each one, Ive had feed problems caused by the ejection port cover plate becoming skewed, once i got that sorted it fired like a dream... after i sold it, the motor housing cracked for one reason or another, pete's was shooting fine at saint lo, then it stopped for no reason, which resulted in pete getting a grenade go off about 3 inches from his nose!
Dougs one like you said is a different issue again.
3 different guns, 3 different problems but all now fixed, mechanical, electrical and cosmetic issues. It's clearly a gun rushed out into the market without any forethought, which is prolly why no-ones cloned it yet ![]()

Right I think I've identified what the issue with reversing the motor connections is, when I was checking different batteries in it yesterday one of the wires in the butt pulled out of it's connector, when fitting it back I noticed that the wires had been reversed, I vaguely remember the same thing happening at St Lo so I assume both wires had pulled out and, without realising it, I'd connected them the wrong way round, it doesn't explain why it packed up initially but at least it explains the wire reversal.

"Operator error"

Replace operator and press any key.
Or to paraphrase someone at work: The problem lies between the boots and the trigger.
(The original version was "...between the chair and the keyboard")
It probably packed up initially because the wires were loose!
