OK, I've got one of these kicking around and I've resolved to make it usable. I'm in the process of installing a basic hop in the barrel, now on to the second curse of WinGun replicas, that crazy FPS. I know there's a least a few guys out there who own these things, anyone recommend a way of dialing down the FPS? I think I was told there's a method similar to the one used on Dan Wesson revolvers, involves a lot of slow filing and testing but I can put up with that.

Would a power down shell restrictor fit in the nagant shells?

Sadly no, first think I tried, if I knew someone with access to a lathe maybe they could be turned down to fit, but I suspect at that point it migh be easier just to turn up some entirely new shells

I went rather gun ho with it all, got fed up of trying to do it so it was reversible. I cut the hammer down, dremel, check fps then try again. Works though it's un-reversable. Also done the barrel hop mod, though you need to put a pin in the barrel so that it doesn't spin as our shooting

Easy enough. Just like in Webley, you need to get a smaller hole in the shell - that's true.
Step 1. Buy this rivets, take one, strip the pin [img]

Step 2. Heat the rivet with soldering iron

Step 3. Fix it in the shell. Polish if necessary

The downgraded shell is in the left. 105m/s instead of 140 m/s.
There are even simplier ways like using tubes of ballpen or electric cables, glued in the shell, but plastic inserts may be blown forward when firing.
Here's one with a piece of cable inslide
