Just tried the fire blacking on my MP40 and the plastic Kings Arms mid caps, works brilliantly. The only downside is that my hands now look like I've been digging coal
Thanks for a great idea.

This worked for me to recreate worn bluing:
Spray the gun with silver paint, then with matt black. Then buff the gun very lightly with cutting polish (E.G. T-cut) until the silver starts to show through the now thin black layer. Spray matt varnish over the top.
have you got any pics how did that turn out as it seems alot easyer

I've just done the same thing to my Marui M4 (I KNOW it's not WW2 !!!). It took about 15 minutes and it looks fantastic now, rather than like a lump of grey plastic. It's really not hard to do.
Top tips always great for the Forum. Keep up the good work

That's the stuff - stove black or grate black or black grate polish etc. Many different brands of the old 'Zebo' type, all do similar things and contain graphite that gives the lustre when polished up.

That's the fella. Anything with graphite in it is exactly whet you want.
