Short answer, is no. You'd have to buy one of the gas K98's (Tanaka or marushin) out there, and buy an original scope and mount to fit to it, if you want to be spot on.

The scope (ZF41 was the most common, from memory) will probably cost you at least the same as the gun, too.

Scopes are as rare as hens teeth  tanaka would be my preference but thats cos I have one. I'm sure you'll get to see whats on offer at D-Day, maybes hold off any purchases til you've looked and had a go (am sure if you ask nicely someone will let you ping off a few shots). Least that way you'll know what you like don't like.

I'm sure that a few years ago I saw a Tanaka K98 with a repro scope on it... Was I mistaken?

I've no idea who has the gun now, it seemed to change hands every 5 minutes...

Scope has issues due to how it slots on I believe yith. One of the members of this forum has a scope for their K98 poss 2. As said look at D-Day hold, ping get an idea before buying

However for an affordable sniper rifle thats far more in keeping than an l96 (even with scrim on the look so modern and i *like* l96s beleive me) why not try a basic mp0001 from rsov they are about 24 quid?

Are you sure gadge? I mean, it is October 18th...

Why not get Keith to make you a K98 conversion, £200-odd I think - and you can get a wider range of scope to fit it. It has the added plus of being spring-powered (reliable and consistent).

Well i'd risk it, RSOV are shipping to the uk they just take no repsonsibilty if it gets seized at customs

HOWEVER as a gneuine ACW re-enacter and an airsofter i think chappel has zero problems providing a defence.

As long as he is a member of a group with PLI and can prove it to HMC&E, then he shouldn't have a problem.

However since the gun isn't for use in ACW re-enactment then it becomes slightly more of a grey area.

No grey area at all. Read the text of the VCRA, the defence-by-regulation and guidance notes and you'll very quickly realise that there is NO mention that the RIF must be applicable to the time frame your re-enactment group portrays.

Yes, you can drive a coach and horses through the VCRA its that badly written.

I'm not sure about that Kermit:
