One of the first things I did when I got my Ares PPSH was to deactivate the blowback feature. I've upgraded the hop bucking and barrel, also put in a m100 spring but that's it. Unfortunately it's never been a great shooter other than it can put out a lot of shots very quickly. At the last game I found the hop would just randomly adjust itself throughout the day. I wonder if it's to do with the vibration from the piston.

On the other hand my Thompson and Sten are very accurate and keep up well with the hi cap heroes at skirmish days.

by contrast my S&T PPSH performs pretty well for what it is, it arrived hot out of the box but an m110 spring later and it's one of my favourite guns, aside from the bloody hi-caps.

That's interesting. I asked the 'experts' at Zero One what strength they thought the stock spring is as I'd started to suspect it was more powerful than the usual AEG stock springs to be found in most guns. Needless to say they didn't have a clue other than to say an M120 was too powerful (I suspect the stock spring is easily as powerful as an M120). After their first repair I was seeing 385fps through my R1 chrony with low hop-up and the stock spring.

When i said every component is constantly at the point of failure i was meaning
Guns by other makers running at higher fps, stock TM guns are dependable out
the box ,if left alone
For sure the TM compatible gearbox has been bettered, thats natural design evolution
but even a £1500 Systema PTW is not fully dependable all the time.
The ares type PPSH hop adjustment wheel does rock about and so changes
The adjustment, will have to look for that grub screw to see if i can solve that
problem

When you find it, tighten it in small increments (test-rotate the dial after each adjustment) or you'll potentially strip-out the thread in the plastic dial (and run the grub-screw clear out the other side, which is irritating). Precision parts these ain't, lol. But I kind of like how the airsoft version of the gun is as crude as its RL counterpart. Except when it grinds to a halt, which the real one tended not to do.
