Yeah me too, are we to come as our respective choices for the Jedburg game? I'd like to dry-run my Jed kit

Where can i hire bearers for the full set of campaign furniture I'll need?

Heh. I'm with you there. 19th Century campaigning has to be the way forward. Howabout "Only bring it if you're willing to let ORs carry it"?

Thanks folks. We'll be opening booking as soon as we confirm a price and camping availability, within the next couple of weeks.

I would not however recommend using a well set up axe without some basic safety instruction. Yes, I am an old woman, but these things are seriously dangerous if you are not careful.

And that advice is:

If you must stand to chop the wood, stand with a wide stance so that if you miss the wood the blade passes between your legs, or better still hits the floor before it gets to your legs.

With smaller axes, it's better to kneel slightly offset, then if you miss the wood the blade will still hit into the floor rather than taking your kneecap off.

My general advice with all woodsmanship is that you should always take your time and not get flustered, and if you do, take 5 minutes to gather your thoughts. Ray Mears has a lovely analogy in his book. He says that if he finds he's getting barbed by thorns when walking through woods, it's a reminder that he's going too quickly and not paying attention to his progress.

Looks like we've got the "Ok" to camp on the saturday. :good:

There are a couple of conditions to this. First - NO MESS! We tidy up after ourselves and leave no trace we were there. Second - We lock the gates behind us and park the cars at the safzone.

Seems fair to me! No mention of a charge for camping yet, so, watch this space. If they want to charge us for 2 days, instead of 1 plus camping, we'll turn it into a weekend event and get our moneys' worth! This will allow more time for stuff like patrolling and more depth to other subjects.

Personally, I would prefer one day - it can be tricky to get a 2-day pass from home.

Hi folks

As you know, bookings are now open and are coming in steadily. Booking thread here: viewtopic.php?f=138&t=10042

Just so that no-one misses out, we are having to limit the numbers for this to 15 maximum. It would be wise to book in good time to avoid disappointment.

Cheers

HS

We are now possibly moving house at some point in May or June (or July) so will probably be AWOL for a while this summer.
