The TT33 is a damn small pistol. I doubt a colt would fit in the TT33 holster I have.

Been having a browse about the interweb looking at lend-lease kit. Millions of pairs of US made boots were sent [15 million pairs so Pravda says]. It seems both the smooth out 'garrison' boot and the rough out were supplied.
Surviving examples seem to have been well polished or dubbined so the untreated rough out, so often seen, would look odd.
Even in an army the size of the soviet one 15 million is a significant number, they would not have been a rare sight.
