Josh, old bean - any chance the (so far 5) Hohenstaufen can all be in the same Zug, please? Me, Lardy, Tim England, Otto and Rich. Danke.
Anyone else care to join us?
did we do this unit before? can't remeber as i think i still have the cuff title if so ill join you
Yes Marsha, the Hohenstaufen (9th SS) was the first ever organised WWII airsoft unit in the UK, I believe. I remember some really good fun training days.
According to my historical adviser much of the unit's camouflage had been given to the reconnaissance troops, who were famously cut down on the bridge by Frost's paras. Therefore, camo was used sparingly by the rest of the unit (which we'll be representing). Cuff title and eagle on the left sleeve of the Feldgrau tunic, with Waffen SS collar tabs, obviously. Wasn't it you who bought my planetree helmet cover a while back ? Ideal for this event.

A peadot tunic would also be ok if you don't want to acquire a new cuff title. I've been trawling for all the photos I can find of the Hohenstauen at Arnhem and it roughtly shows a sprinkling of a few smocks, roughly one third in some form for peadot (about 50/50 between full set & smocks only with one guy in just the trousers) and the rest in feldgrau, occassionally in a zelt. Alot less in the way of helmet covers than you'd expect as well. The smocks/zelts appear to be oakleaf and I'd guess the covers are too.
You dont need a cuff title to do SS.
You can do it without and still be accurate.

This is the look Im planning, Peadot trousers and Feldgrau tunic, will need to use a helmet cover as Heer badged, if it pisses down may wear the smock as its waterproofed
