Pretty much every open day - though I dont always go in my WW2 stuff. Its about the easiest woodland site to get to from NW london.

Maybe we should have an impromptu little WW2 session down there sometime :D

How far's Portsmouth from you? Check out General forum - there's a few of us going on 11th March!

If we can offer pointers without picking holes?
It's a good effort though pistols are not common among enlisted men. They are normally worn on the left when issued, cross draw style.
The pouches are for the G43 automatic rifle and you carry a K98, though I'm sure they are much more useful than K98 pouches in airsofting.

Dok, what patches have you got? Battle shields go on left arm, above rank patch. Tank killer badges go on the right.

I was worried myself about an Obergefreiter having a pistol, but as the war went on, it was pretty much personal choice, I understand. Yes, in 1940, ein Mann on the parade ground would not have had one, but after 2 years on the Russian front, almost anything went.

Am I right in thinking that all skills and office patches go on the left arm above rank?

Nope, most trade/skills patches are worn on the mid/lower right sleeve.
On the left sleeve you might find a shield as showd by sidearm, though they are rare. The radio mans blitz[lightning bolt] is worn high on the left.
tank destroyer badges do go high right but again are not that commonly seen in action.
Less is more when it comes to 'bling', a general assault badge or a wound badge, EK2, ostfront ribbon or war merit cross are about all you should aim for. Save money on bling to spend on more kit.

Well you can offer pointers but I still think your picking holes :D

Well first off I know that an enlisted man wouldnt have usually carried a pistol - but this is airsoft not a hardcore reenactors meeting - functionality and fun must come first. I dont know whether you have skirmished with a Mauser but you need a backup - especially if you arent equipped with a big old scope and intend to sit at the back all day.

Yup I know they are Gew 43 pouches - they are the only authentic pouches that fit Tanaka Kar 98 magazines. Several people have tried converting K98 pouches with no success.

I have the Narvik battle shield on the left - mainly as I have a Gebirgsjagers weapon and that battle was perhaps their most famous action. The thing on my right arm is a Gebirgsjagers Edelweiss insignia and is definitely in the right place. I have many photos and a whole book about the Gebirgs divisions to confirm :D

Seriously guys dont stress so much. This may be reenactment airsofting - but I think you will find very few people who put accuracy above having fun. There will be people playing in all sorts of kit - its not like we are even coherent units. Wanna use a pistol - use a pistol. This is not a historical document - its a bunch of like minded gits running around in a wood playing with toy guns and pretending to be in their favourite WW2 film!

Yep have a pistol if you want one, no ones going to stitch nazi you , unless its something "obviously wrong" like a DE or 226 . Any colt, revolver etc wil pass muster .

Aye the phrase i often bandy about is 'film-sim'

Its not milsim its not re-enactment its glorified playing army, we want to capture the feel but its not got to be that accurate, we were incredibly impressed by the ammount of efort that went in to outfits for BotB event.

I think we'll see the same again this time.

If i were to be picky about my own kit i could rag holes in it.

I've black not brown boots, i've a thompson not a sten or mp40 (far more realisitc for arnhem) my shirts postwar under the smock, etc etc.

Lets all chill, get ut there and make liek the worlds best first person wwii game!

2 Thompson mags from 1 supplier, 2 identical Thompson mags from another supplier, both based in the same country. They arrived within 48hrs of each other. One attracted no duty, the other a total charge of

It's the 13 quid "handling charge" from PF that hacks me off. I'm trying to get a concrete answer from HMR&C on whether they are willing to hold items until the VAT & duty is paid by the owner, instead of letting PF feck us for another 13 quid....
