Hello all
Working in the industry I do (the film industry for those who don't know), I thought I'd ask a colleague if he'd be interested in filming the event. He's also a very keen photographer.
He's said yes in principle so I thought I'd just check with you guys, and Phoenix (Dave?), whether this would be ok.
I could dress him in US kit, or he could go civvie. This would only be so he didn't look like a nerd in a dayglo vest, but if there are any safety requirement I guess we'd have to stick to them.
He's a filmmaker who's turned beuraucrat and is working in my office. Nice guy, very trustworthy and sensible.
I think that any finished product would look good as he's also an accomplished editor with Final Cut Pro/Aperture.
The only problem is that he's recently sold his dv cam so that might be an issue. Although I could probably get hold of one. He's got good digi SLR kit though.
Thoughts?

Sounds good...
I have a DV cam... he could borrow that if you can be sure he'll cover the cost of any breakages.
Tell him to dress 40s civvie, i.e trousers and sweater, that way he'll blend inot the game but not be a target as he wont have an armband, you dress him in military kit and some hero's going to peg him ...

"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
I think that would absolutely ace. Donkey jacket and trousers should work fine , ie not too out of place.
No problem with Phoenix of course and civies would be best idea.
As already discussed - we have a young lad who has been doing vids at Phoenix open days who is keen and the plan was to ask him to do some coverage - would be good to get as many angles as poss anyway.
And of course Joe is shooting stills all day when he is not shooting Germans
.
I'll make sure the marshalls have cameras too, let's try and get saturation coverage - you never know, I may get the chance to get some snaps too.
BTW, make sure your contact isn't precious about copyright and let's us have raw footage - little point if we can't use what we want later on.

Yes... if he's using my camera then he has NO copyright!
It would all be on my terms. He's a friend who'd enjoy it rather than doing it for business.
