I just came off the phone with Warren... He's now booked in.
He mentioned the possibility of bringing his halftrack down with him... He has access to a trailer he can use.
He seems quite enthusiastic, but would require us to pay a bit for the petrol/trailer usage... He reckons
Tempted although it's a well dodgy replica ! Better than a Transit though !
Can we have a discussion about expenditure , to see if we can afford it ?
As I see it we want some paintings and signs, probably some pyros & smokes...um I know there's a list somewhere
, however if we get full attendance we have a budget of
Okay... it depends on what we charge.
At
Hmmm Tricky !
Agree with all the expenditure apart from Advertising , as the booking threads 75% full not sure what need spending ? Would like to budget for some smokes for both sides, and I mean proper marine jobbies not the cacky asoft variety
Gadge wanted radio packs as well .
Agree there is a dichotomy with paying Warren but not Oddball . Ideally both need something from it .
Agree that we are covering the cost for Gucci ( and also ourselves? )
We're back to how much to charge for entry I guess.
Radio packs should be too difficult should they?
Alternatively I found a picture of a brit at arnhem using the US style hand held radios... good for short range... would they be something more suitable to repro?
For advertising, I'm including any sort of flyers or business cards that dave produces.
BTW... We'd have to find a driver for the half track. Warren doesn't want to do it as he'll be on the allies side. He doesn't mind someone else driving it.
Hmm .....driving at Airsoft events
......I can if needs be provided it's not clapped out .
I see both vehicles as adding some flavour rather than being major tactical items.
Indeed.. What we need is a bit of driving around at key points in the day!! ![]()
Whether it's worth using Warrens plywood box rather depends on the scenario and game plan - is it worth the hassle of bringing it down? There is nothing in the game (thus far) that requires the use of vehicles so it will be to a degree set dressing. (Plus the potential problem of writing the vehicle into the scenario and it not arriving on site on the day for whatever reason.)
As for drivers I would suggest the Phoenix marshals handle that - players are never allowed to use vehicles on open days (don't think the issue has ever arrisen in private days!) as there are considerable H&S issues with moving vehicles and punters. That said, I am sure that we WILL be able to drive them ourselves but the marshals might as well do something!
Agree with the smoke thing, the more the better. I hope we can muster 50 x

Agreed chomley... I'm hoping to get some input from gadge as regards the usefulness in the scenario! Where is he?
I think it will be useful in the scenario.... the german assaults were mechanised!
As for smokes... I contacted Semmy (my only source for these)... he got back to me quickly. He doesn't have any right now, but may have some in a week or so. He'll contact me then.
BTW, are we sure we can use them at Phoenix? What about at IED?
Gadge has been very ill for the ast three days, ill give you some input this evneing.

I got some smokes from the outdoorsman on line shop . Same as HFM stock .

The crow scarers come from the same place.
Open minded with the half track ,

Er... I assume you mean: "Extra Large Smoke Canister"?
Shame the picture looks like it was done in corel draw by a 5 year old.
Open minded with the half track ,
Please do suggest vehicle rules that work... even if we don't have the half track then its almost certain that we'll have some vehicles in game.
The reason why I say specific objectives with the vehicles is that I don't want them to overshadow any other gameplay and the general run of the game.
The jeep will have a fairly specific role in the game I suspect... as would the half track.
We need to think about this some more.
As things stand we are only using half of the site. Could vehicles be used to open up the other areas?
Gadge did mention destroying vehicles by pyro pot & IR det LAW or Kermits PIAT (or indeed using Webby's/Major's bazooka).
When we use vehicles at PU it is often using a mk5/bfg to stop the vehicle for predetermined time and five to destroy it. (Avoid pyros under vehicle if poss and rolling bfg's only).

1 Safety is everything
2 Max speed of 10mph , less if congested
3 You can shoot at and from a vehicle but no shooting at or by the driver
4 Vehicles must stop if a MK5 or larger explodes within 2 meters, all passengers must dismount at that point although are not dead unless shot whilst disembarking. Vehicles remain in postion for 10 minutes before regening RTB or otherwise. You cannot medic a vehicle ![]()
5 Vehicles can be captured and used by the opposition , normally driver follows the vehicle but only for a set amount of time ( vehicle runs out of fuel)
6 Vehicles are not tanks , they are there for troop deployment and the odd bit of cover, not as mobile pillboxes.
7 If you are shot in a vehicle, normal rules apply , you can be driven ot regen or dismount and walk .
Just had word from warren that he's changed his mind on bringing the half track down. Because its just a 1 dayer he doesn't think its worth the hassle.
fair enough...
A re-enactor i know called Gary Bainbridge has expressed an interest in coming, he has a 1943 airborne recce jeep with trialer and drop cannister.
he doesnt want paying but it would be good if we covered his play fee or discounted it if he brough the vehicle.
Same for the other guys, bring the bvehicle get in free or half price?
Adding vehicles to the scenarios not a proble but they were initially written withouth so they woudlnt go 'flat' if the vehicles never materialised.
