Is that your impression of the unit cat, Gordon, or... :giggle:

VG were Heer, hence my comment re: camo. I'm assuming that the best elite units were given such items first? Photographical evidence of the GD (for example) shows very little camo at all.

You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier

Dunno :( just looked a good article it states that the VG were kitted out ASAP on the Westwall even with the stg 44 so who knows, and the Cat was the Best bit of Kit. Double Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

It is only IMO, Kamerad. I do have a book on some VG unit in Hurtgen, and again, most photos show greatcoats. One appears to show a Sumftarn smock.

Whatever, don't let it come between us. I will see if either of my cats (Starsky and Hutch) want to take part. I'm hoping they won't have to pay full price.

evening Gents,

would like to ask a favour and a couple of questions as i am thinking of attending as my first WW2. firstly i will have greys and the general heer kit(basics) and hopefully a greatcoat soon, so first favour, would i be able to join your unit? im an old git so no teenage tantrums....well not many.
if the above is a generous yes and i am able to make it, are you roughing it or going for the soft option (camp fire and bar). dependant on which one what would i need to bring which was "authentic" and what would i need that wasnt necessarily"authentic" seeing as it is a 3 day event- all advise appreciated.

many thanks
si

I think from what you have said you would be more than welcome.
I guess most will be in period zelts or tents but not roughing it too much, getting changed for dinner with a few drinkies around the camp fire. Ask to borrow kit on a mend it or bend it nature people are accommodating. If you are interested in a period canvas tent look in the US kit for sale section I have one for sale that might suit. I put it in the US section but I guess you could use it anywhere kit got robbed all around. Good to have you on board

Hello Simon

I think I can speak for the rest of the 26 Volksgrenadier Division to say you would be most welcome to join the rest of us fuddy duddies :good:

Although It is a 3 day event, the first is really only arrival and set up. I believe the plan is to set up our own campsite so you would need a canvas period looking tent, if you dont have one a pup tent can be picked up quite cheaply.

I dont think we are planning on roughing it, no sleeping in foxholes for us, a full social in the evenings is intended.

Is this your first WW2 airsoft event?

gents, you are most generous and accomodating, many thanks for the warm invite, yes this will be my first. I am booked in for the Drakelow tunnel event, but cant wait that long, hence my request. I wil take a look at the tent Heir Klein thanks.

a little bit about me, been paintballing since the year dot and at 41 discovered airsoft, feel in love with it big time. problem was i was 50% about the "look" and 50% about the game, and when people were playing in jeans while i was kitted out in in my "nam" gear (was a vietnam theme) I found i wasnt getting the "feel" for it or the depth of role play i wanted, and then .....BOOM, came across ww2 airsoft on youtube, did some research and here i am. after reading through loads of post I found (the following is meant as a compliment) that the majority of ww2 airsofters were as annal about kit as me :happydance: in a lot of cases more so :giggle:

so my three major requirements have hopefully been met. 1) the reenactment and role play. 2) the airsoft and guns guns guns. 3) maturity (not all the time) and levels of organisation to make the event authentic.

so once the last of the kit is here i will post a picture for feedback and advice and aim for having everything in place for the 2/3/4 november. looking forward to meeting you all - cheers simon

Brilliant, Simon!! :good: Get the basics first - a greatcoat can wait until you've got the rest. As I've said before, I've skirmished in sub-zero temps, lying on the ground, with just a woolly pully under my field greys, and been absolutely fine.

As for your age... well... you'll probably fit in just fine with all of us...!
