if its going to rain heavily then some sort of hand water pump to clear the trench system might not be a bad idea. there are already drains off the trench system but maybe the odd bit of pumping might make thing more comfortable.

Does anyone actually have a "hand water pump"?

i dont think we will need one but it would be a shame not to be able to make the most of the bunker and trench system in the event of bad weather leading up to the event.

I'm not sure if this has been asked but for the guys sleeping in trenches is it feisable for us to have a small (no bigger than a dinner plate ) fire for a little warmth ? Or would this be against regs? Plus has any of you guys out there slept in trenches before? If so advice and information on necessitys on what to take and how to set up in the trench would be very helpful, at this moment in time I've got a complete pup tent and a shelter half, would using the shelter half for cover be the best idea?

Any info would be awesome, cheers

Unless I've got this horribly wrong, the trenches dug on site are in-game so no sleeping there (in any case, the warnings of water-filling preclude sleeping in them). But there will be two encampments for sleeping overnight - one canvas tentage, the other nylon tentage. So, if you have a tent sleep in that but I suppose there is no reason not to dig your own scrape and bivi in that if you want the experience - was this your proposal? I wouldn't put real fire in the same hole as you though when asleep - I've witnessed a player have serious burns sleeping next to a fire at a game. Not pretty and a real ball ache for the organiser having to sort a trip to the hospital.

Ok I though sleeping in the trenches was mentioned in the original Game discription or have I got that wrong? :? Also the fire would be put out before we sleep.

I read: "We have a permanent military tented safezone/admin area with accommodation, mess area, briefing areas, first aid points, charging area and range."
and: "... so all welcome to the 50 cal bar at the main safezone encampment on Sat night for a couple of beers and a bratwurst by the fire. And yes at the accomodation I dont expect you to just have a wool blanket. As long as we get the realism til dusk I am more than happy."
But also: "To allay any fears we work hard and play hard. There is always the diehards who want to erect an overnight camp on the lines as it were and are more than welcome to do that."

So I guess if you want to miss the social encampment Friday/Sat evening then you could venture into the dark woods and make yourself comfy in a scrape on a bed of leaves and shelter-half strung above you. Or you could do the same in the encampment. Personally, I'll stick to zelt - that's hard core enough for me!

It is, try 'in front of' and play with the phrase anti-social...

Anyway, it does raise some points - clearly the idea is chaps can do whatever they want for this weekend. I don't think any Germans were planning on pitching tents in the gaming area - or are they? It's going to be a weird social with people all over the place!

I was one German looking to kip in the bunker or trench system. Saturday night that is, I will probably wimp out Friday night and kip in the car for ease. Am I the only one dossing in the trenches then?

Now I am confused - aren't the trenches in the US sector?
