Given that we are required onsite by 9am Saturday, does anyone have any ideas about Friday night sleeping arrangements? Nearest Travelodge is Shrewsbury Battlefield, 11 miles away. It's usually fairly cheap if you book well in advance and share rooms. Dunno how this compares with local campsite prices. How far is the nearest site?
Other factors to consider - if we're camping, we'll (obviously) have to get up, eat, strike camp and get to the game site by 9am. Travelodge is looking a better bet to me...
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
Here is a camp site you might consider...

Ah, very handy indeed, CW.
The more large tents we bring, the cheaper it'll be! Anyone else camping? If so, what size tent will you bring?

Andy - I'll be camping on Friday, I've just booked some annual leave for Bryansk.
Not sure what tent I'll be bringing at this time, will decide nearer the time - either French Army tent for me or the modern monster, which has plenty of room.
I'm assuming this camp site would be seperate to the actual event site ? Personally think I'm going to have to save for a travel lodge, if its damp there is nothing worse than repitching a tent a second night when the inners been touched (makes em leak), not to mention its a huge PiTa packing it all up ready for the next day and getting on site for 9am
There are plenty of very good B&Bs in the area. You'll struggle with a Travelodge. The nearest would be Shrewsbury or Welshpool I'd imagine.
Bishop's Castle, Church Stretton, Clun and Ludlow are all very good tourist spots.
For the richer amongst you, Ludlow has two excellent Michelin starred restaurants too. Try Mr Underhill's.
Have a look here for B&Bs:

I'll be avoiding tourist spots as it costs more, its merely a bed and to break up the journey so I (we) are not fubar'd for the game on Saturday Fingers crossed I might actually have a job by then and be able to afford it
Anyone remember if it was Owestry travel lodge last time ? might be an idea for this time as its enroute again so to speak ?
The Travel Lodge nearest to the site is Shrewsbury Battlefield, cost of a room is £53 for up to 3 adults
Travelodge, Ludlow is the closest Pete:

You'll have a nicer time of it in Ludlow the night before too. Lots of excellent eating and drinking houses and not a chav in sight......unlike Shrewsbury.
I wouldn't say they were 'hotspots' particularly, Shropshire is either tourism or farming and little else in between! You can get decents B&Bs in most areas for around £25 per night. Try Craven Arms for the less salubrious end of the scale!

Travelodge Ludlow sounds a good idea to me. I agree with Helga, it's a lot easier to roll out of bed and go, rather than have to pack up a tent and stuff. I'll book up a room this evening. Anyone else want to share?

I'll be staying locally anyway but will pop down to Ludlow the night before to share a foaming ale.
Ludlow currently has rooms for £39 + £1 booking fee, however I don't have the facilities to book til I have a job and can actually clear my credit card
need a conflab me thinks
Hmmm Ludlow Travelodge - nice, couple swift half's some pub grub and a comfy bed - booked it.
Spare spaces gone - York 3 have grabbed them.
Off to buy uber ear plugs
Any room for a little one, anybody..?
trying to decide whether to drive up in the morning or not.....
The nice thing about Ludlow is that it has a rail link from Shrewsbury. Buses are cack though.
