OK, just had convo with Guy. Jay's plan B hasn't worked out and he's not happy with the Bunker.

I think time has now run out for an early Nov game (rece, planning, publicity etc) so we either go for a late Nov game somewhere else (and we have many sites to choose from) or how about if we approach Jamie @ F&O and run their December game for them at the Bolton woodland site?

Major is out of the picture and I don't think Bollogs is going to come up with anything (October plan scrubbed through lack of activity). We get to run a game at a new (to WW2) site, F&O don't have to do anything except collect cash (BTW, going to insist on no ghey camping charge!).

Sounds like a plan.

How about we line up UCAP for a spring 2009 game?

We could make it an official 2nd anniversary game (we weren't even invited to our 1st anniversary!).

As we have cash reserves we could offer CiA members a game discount (i.e. not at marked up cost) and give them priority places.

I like your thinking.

Given that we would likely have 40-50 players we could charge £35 per player (F&O's fees are £20) with a £5 reduction for members. Assuming we get 40 players, most of whom are CiA members, it would make us a minimum of £400.

This would give us at kitty of around £900.

Alternatively a more generous reduction of £10 would give us about £700 in the kitty if 40 CiA members booked.

Just spoken to Jay and Guy has spoken to Jamie and so we are good to go with a Dec 13/14th game at F&O woodland, Bolton.

'Weekender' event (whether we play or not on Sunday to be decided) - card carrying members get a reduced price as a 2nd anniversary pressy.

A Bulge related game or even something closer to Normandy is as good as any I would have thought.

Heh, twist on the first game 'The Battle of the Bulge' (the American's name) - name the game 'Unternehmen Wacht am Rhein' (Operation Watch on the Rhine).
German initiative, german offensive game (as a foil to Husky's German defensive game).
Split the Brits and Yanks again working separately against single German force (as the German plan was to split the Allied forces).

Sounds like a plan to me......

....and unlike the Bunker, I have ideas forming in my head already.

Yep, BotB started with the German asking Yanks to surrender. This time we could work it in that the 'bulge' hasn't formed yet.

Fuck! Can't do 13th. I'm at a gig in Birmingham.

6th/7th or 20th/21st seem ok for me.

Ah! Guy can't do 6/7 I think. 20/21st is bang up against Christmas. 29/30 November is a possibility I suppose...

I've a tentative booking for November 29/30. Good chance that will be cancelled though.

Other possibilities are Jan 3/4 or Jan 10/11.

The other solution is that we run the game on Sunday 14th and I come up on the morning, but that's not ideal for hangover reasons. (The players, not me!)

No problem with any of those dates for me. I'm owed more than enough favours by certain colleagues to get them to cover my on-call slot in the rota.

Nah, not any more. I have a far better screw than that.I deal with the order system in our sector as well as my "normal" job. This means I can practice those well known civil service arts of nepotism, favouritism, extortion and blackmail in the run up to chrimbo, which guarantees that the fuckers try and curry favour, ergo, lots of presents from them. The case of Jamesons being my fav last year. Do I declare it to the management? do I bollocks! Them fuckers are on the take anyway..

Anyhoo, back to dates. All good for me.

So basically it's 29/30 Nov or 6/7 Dec. Unless Guy isn't free on the 6/7th which leaves one choice!

I think given F&O already have the date planned, it ties in with the real battle dates and we are all available then a Sunday game on the 14th December looks the most obvious choice. Any later and it cuts into Christmas and any earlier and it cuts into prep time. Guy and me are closest so we will sort out the recce and scenario.

So, if we can agree on Saturday night camping for those that want to, with a Sunday game finishing at 4pm then I'll make the arrangements with Jamie and start the publicity.

OK, makes sense. That's going to be a bit of a gruelling drive for me!

FYI sunset is at 3.51pm on that day.
