Does anyone know what bottles will fit a '44 pattern bottle pouch? - Apart from '44 pattern bottles?

I'd rather buy a new one as I don't fancy getting Ebola.

As Scaley says, most will fit -

Assuming that you're wanting plastic -

* '58 Bottle, with Crusader mug/cook pot underneath, but not the plastic mug on top, due to how the '44 pouches fasten
* US/Dutch bottle, with metal mug underneath - loose fit but you can pad it out with extra rat packs ;)

The French metal canteen (forerunner to crusader) will also fit, along with it's mug but not the cooker unit unfortunately.

Unless the '44 bottles are very crudy they should clean up with no real issues ........................ ??

In my experience most water bottles do... All my WWII and WWI British ones are fine. As are my US ones, my ruskie one, nam one... etc.... etc...

58 pattern fits, no problem as well. Strange, that looking at 44 pattern waterbottles, many have plastic caps. The one I used to have had a metal one.

The original bottles had metal caps, the later ones had the plastic/bakelite caps :good:

There are bargains still to be had out there, if you bide your time and look outside the usual places (ebay, etc). £5 is a steal! (and people moan about Brit kit being expensive!).

Are '44 Pattern bottles rare in the UK?

What's the going rate for them?

Not as such but going by the prices they fetch you would think they were 8) 8) 8) 8)

Joe,a lot of the so called Brit 44 patt canteen bits are indeed Danish issue-they were given a lot of Brit stuff post war and then started to produce their own.
