this has probably been brought up before but in the expert opinion of the forum is this an incredibly bad copy?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WW2-British-Parac ... dZViewItem

if i am right in thinking that is is pretty shocking could someone please point me in the direction of a cheap but still fairly accurate denison smock supplier as most of the ones i've found a incredibly over priced or original ww2 kit

also I'm trying to find a supplier of German para trousers for the shall we say..... "more generously proportioned" soldier

Denison smocks, havent got a clue.

FJ trousers, however, I might be able to help you with. Barry at Spearhead does them in quite, er, "generous" sizes. If thats no use though, email http://www.reenactment-box.com and see what they can come up with.

hello WL,

I got my FJ trousers from - http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Spearhead-Militaria
and he does them to accommodate 'my fat ass' lol

Um no one mentioned size-out-of-proportion at Wotan, apart from my 'little leg' smock - ya dwarfist bastards

I would avoid this particular one definately-There is another HK seller(cannot remember his name)that does a MUCH better one.

In MY opinion this one is too long for a 2nd pattern, the tail is way too long and worst of all the colours look DAYGLOW    .

Having said that,it is cheap and ive never seen one in the flesh or after a few washes but personaly i wouldnt touch it

Whilst, as with everything, there were wartime variations, those colours do look wrong.
(They may 'wash down' a little but often it's best to spend a little more to get the right thing in the first place.)

If you scan down the various Sticky's, there will be a number of suppliers that have been used before (eg Replicators, who will do made-to-measure) and I believe that a number of 'new' suppliers have been mentioned recently; try a search for 'Denison' - should bring up the relevent threads ??

If you buy 'surplus', avoid the smocks with 3 press-stud fastenings as they are later Belgian versions - nothing wrong with them, and fine for 'counts as' but if you're buying to build your impression, you may as well buy the 'correct' thing.

that's annoying as hell, i've searched ebay by typing denison multiple times but that seller or ad had never come up.

I take it the half zip is more authentic than a full zip then?

All wartime production denisons were half zip.

Only officers wore full zips and they were all privatley tailored from regular ones. (the long zip came from the parachutists oversmock)

A full zip is the 1946 pattern.

So my advice is to get a half zip from rangercamp once they are out

I thought the camouflage pattern was the difference in 59 pattern.

My 46 pattern is the same camo as WW2 and looks like a 2nd pattern but with knitted cuffs.

59patts are all full zip but a different camo to the WW2 type

Yep i'm with you there but there is a post war production run with war pattern cam and a full zip, i'm sure its 46 or 47 pattern.

I just cant be arsed to trudge through the hundreds of denison threads on http://www.wwiireenacting.co.uk

Rangercamp is a guy who sometimes advertises on these forums, his company make the smocks but dont sell them to anyone unless its wholesale so its quite possible hsi smocks go to moe thna one seller, i wouldnt knwo for sure though.

I've got some kit on the way from http://www.replicaters.com/ww2britarmy.html because a few people recommended them, they make everything to measure and deliver within 30 days and they're very reasonably priced.

If the camo suit I have ordered is up to scratch, I'm going to get one of their Denisons as well.
