Whilst on the hunt for a pair of Boots, Combat, High (for my Fallschie outfit), I read that some of the British Army were still wearing DMS boots and puttees in the Falklands conflict! Is that true?? ![]()

Yes... they were as far as I am aware.
Yes caused no end of foot problems as they dont let water drain out once in.
2para yomping in DMS and short puttees is one of the classic images of the war.

Hi leg boots were not(i believe)general issue to the British Army until just after the Falklands campaign. Some private purchase boots made their way out there and Argie Hi Legs were prized trophies amongst Brit troops.
Also i believe the hi legs issued after the DMS(and until the assault boots)werent that popular as they caused severe shin splints

Aye Taff - I have read a lot of negative comments about BCH!

A lot of guys found they blistered you badly, personally i prefered them to assault boots, i dont think i wore my issued assault boots much, i kept my BCH as long as i could then 'aquired' some pro boots for winter and junglies for summer.

I joined up in 1986 and I was issued with DMS and putties.
1936, surely???!
