General Service Cap: How does one wear it?

I've heard that name used for the regular one too.

As a piece of headgear it was almost universally hated. Officers were allowed to private purchase khaki berets and nearly all did.

Unofficially many ORs also bought berets and wore them for walking out. I've got a pic of a Hallamshire Cpl in a self bought beret.

Of course you wouldnt wear one for duty as you'd have it taken off you and be on a charge of being 'improperly dressed' but for going to dances and day to day wear a lot of units turned a blind eye to uniform modifications like unnoficial headwear, collared shirts and flared trousers.
