http://www.alliedforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=1379

Good price for the BD, but £20 for a blanco'd belt? Havin' a larfff! I am very temped by the BD....

And with blanco being expensive and illusive I think it might be the way forward.

Does it, for airsoft?
When the thread seems to support the notion that close enough is good enough then isn't it being unduly picky to question the skill of the original owner at applying blanco?
I know, coming from me......

hehe... yeah I'm just meaning as regards the cost/value.. :)

If its badly blancoed then it may in fact be worth less...

As a newbie to most of this I find the history of "Death of Blanco" quite surprising. Normally items increase in value as they become more and more scarce - supply & demand & whatnot. With blanco the price curve seemed to be non-existant; (it's really cheap....it's still really cheap....it's STILL really cheap....Oh, it's all gone. Sorry.) I wonder if we won't see the same thing with wartime '37 pattern webbing.

Certainly with items that wear out, and already rarer items. Decent 37 patt. belts seem to be slowly increasing in price, i used to get them for a quid a pop at the local army surplus place, but you just don't see them any more outside shows/dealers now.

Fortunately, most of it's still available in such huge quantities that it's not in any real danger of running out yet (just go look at sabre for an example!), and even still keeps getting 'found' by the container-load on odd occasions, so i doubt it'll shoot up in value soon.

I've never paid, and am never going to pay, over a fiver for a ruddy '37patt belt blanco'd or not!
They still made brass fitting'd '37patt belts well into the late '70s, primarily to be blanco'd/painted white and used for ornate special occasions. Finding one of these unblanco'd/painted is great, as they're dead cheap (considered new production, not 'antique war relic'), no damage as it's only 30 years old, and exactly the same pattern and brasses as a WW2 dated one. keep your eyes out for these. I've got two and they're great!

To be honestly its happening with a lot of items that a few years ago you could pick up for peanuts.

Bog std MK2 tommy helmets on Ebay now going for anything from £20-£60

I know Ebay can be very unpredictable but unfortunately due to the popularity of reenacting etc prices are shooting up even for the "everyday"bits :( :( :( :(
