Forget the BD and wear them as slipons on your shirt epaulettes, assuming that you have first pattern jerboas, if not they would not have been seen in the desert.
As a guide ,1st pattern North Africa,2nd pattern for Italy ,and 3rd pattern Europe .

sorry whats first pattern jerboas im not up to scratch with?

A jerboa is a small bodies large ear'd sand-dwelling rodent; i.e a desert rat!
He's talking about what version of 'rat insignia you've got.

Are the orange on black not the post war version?
The desert period patch was a red crouched rat in a white circle on a red square? Often worn only as a red rat.
The black background was introduced when they moved to NW Europe.
Have a look here;

It is most likely a late war set of badges, as previous post, the black ground was adopted when they moved back to Europe from Africa. Uniform insignia would be updated to follow the regulations.
You also have no way of knowing when those badges were applied, could have been 1944, 1946 or 2011.
It does look, from the other items being sold, that this one is legit but dont rely on ebay as a reference source.
This item suggests that the white circle was still used in 1943?

Here's a pic of a genuine (although odd pattern) wartime 'desert era' embroidered shoulder flash:

Here's a picture of genuine wartime 'European era' embroidered shoulder flash:

Note, that most reenactors will just have made-do with putting a 'dersert era' shoulder badge (red and white one) on an epaulette slip.

Those pictures are from the 'Memorabilia' page of the link I included in my first post.
You should visit the links people post.

The red funny looking jerboa on the white background is the correct one, a lot of the first ones were theatre made,so there is a bit of variation in them.
"Monty's Locker " was the only place we found that was supplying the correct ones, but make sure you specify "1st pattern".
