Wear em on the ankle, it's what most of us end up doing:)
Seriously, it's pretty much the best way of doing it and it just means they ride up onto the ankle.

gadge is right, although I had the same problem and got a bigger pair and they seem to stay on better.

"lace wrapped around the top" ???
You just ladder lace the boots and tie in a bow. Dont wrap the laces around your ankle before you tie.
Extra length in the lace you trim off, you dont need it.
