just a quick question although i think ive got it right,i've just got myself a no4 bayonet and frog and went to put them together and i assume the metal button on the scabard fits between the two loops on the frog,i only ask because to fit it i had to remove two tiny screws from the lip of the scabard and remove the lip before i could get it to fit then re-fit the lip and screws afterward ,have i got that right? i know there probably is a thread with this but after three pages of search i thought i'd just ask.

Yes, that's right... though that is probably a very late frog.

I got one of those from SoF recently, and it is effectively useless. My other one (which Webby gave me) has a slit in the top loop, through which the stud fits.

My original '43 dated frog is a b*gger to fit a pig sticker scabbard into. Very tight top loop, but still loose enough to allow semi-fee rotary movement.

A lot of the SoF repro kit doesn't take the blanco very well, quite a few mentions in threads in the past ,best use something like Warren's

That's interesting,I gave up on repro webbing because it all kept coming out a different colour from the originals, ended up flogging it all.

The only repro SoF stuff I tried blancoing was a pair of anklets, which came out very patchy. They had looked "normal" and not waxy before blancoing. I believe it's because they're using modern fibres?

Anyway, I won't be buying any more - although originals are becoming rarer, I will only be buying original from now on.

Ah, I've just been reading the "wank" book :giggle: and it shows that there was a securing tab used with the slitless frogs to keep the bayonet in place.
