Those of the Allied persuasion at CR might be looking for something to sleep under. Floating around the Interwebbything, i've found something that might solve your problems. Cheap too!

Considering the price, why do some people still insist on using modern nylon crap for sleeping in at re-enactment do's. It doesnt matter whats inside the tent when the tent itself is an original.

I agree, I'm really hoping we don't have a sea of Eurocampyness at CR . It would be nice to have a more period look to the two bases .

These are cheap , light to carry and could pass for a couple of oak zelts if you wanted a cheap period look ..

Or even a flecktarn basha/zelt lookalike strung up in the trees ..

i have a old 2 man type tent from the late 80's that looks fairly similar to the one linked in the first post so shall be bringing that. its nylon but its green at least so it'll blend in a bit. cant justify a whole new tent for one event heh

but if its good weather i doubt i'll bother with the tent on the sat night. a bivvy/sleeping bag should suffice

I'm going to have to wimp out on the canvas tent/zeltbahn choice I'm afraid. I've already spent a fortune on my kit and my Bro' who's coming with me, is getting married in July, so he doesn't want to spend any more than he has to. I'll be in my Land Rover G4 tent and all of its' associated comfort!

However, I DO have 2 big SS banners to hang over it to cover up its' overall oranginess! Hopefully won't look too out of place! The biggest kick in the dick for me camping wise is the no alcohol rule!

The decision wasn't taken lightly.

The intention is to make the Saturday evening more functional than social, hence the decision to cut out booze. We've all seen how people can be adversely affected by alcohol consumption at airsoft events, particularly the morning after, and we wanted to make this more about the skirmishing than the socialising.

My opinion (not that of all the organisers) is that guns and alcohol just don't mix, so I like to keep a dry site where possible.

Just think how much more you'll savour your first pint on Sunday afternoon!

Agreed

We deliberated over it and it was mainly knowing that a lot of the tension at Arnhem was generated by a combination of

Little sleep + Alcohol hangover x Number of 'i thought i hit you's = bad feeling.

It will be just as social brewing up teas and coffees communally!

i totally concur with the alcohol thing.... one of the downsides at a recent overnighter (and the only one imho) was the amount of drunk people wandering around the cars in the safe zone on the night before firing bbguns at each other at one point narrowly missing my head while i was trying to unload my car. Also on weekenders you get the crowd who are determined to get absolutely ratted thus keeping everyone else awake and trying to then play the next day with hangovers and all sorts ... I totally agree - Guns and alcohol do not mix -
controversial but there you go. :)

Lol, you obviously didn't see my squad at distant thunder 2005! Our alcohol intake was truly heroic.

The rule certainly won't detract from my fun at CC and, as you say, that first pint in the pub will be all the sweeter for it, especially after the German victory.
