Heh, all this bitching talk has made my mind up! As I have said in conversations with Guy I'm getting increasingly frustrated with all the hassle for what should be fun.

In the past two years I have been to every site recce/site meeting/planning meeting (no matter where in the country), done shit for every game, attended every training day and every WW2 game organised by others. In addition to designing and running the web site and forum. It's taken a ridiculous amount of time and a large wedge of cash.

I'm not complaining about the workload, after all I brought it on myself, but enough is enough. It's been worthwhile and fun and yes, we have achieved something good. I'm not fecking off, I'm not throwing dummies, I'm not falling out with anyone, I'm not selling my gear, I'm not shutting off the server. But I am sitting back and hoping that after Christmas I'll be a bit more motivated and hoping that others will take up the challenge.

I'll continue to run the forum/web site and handle all the day to day technical issues. And I'll deliver a cracking game in December as promised but I'm not committing to organising a further game.

As with any small club, bitching, back-biting and politics is always the killer as is uneven workloads - don't let's let it happen to CIA please? Airsoft is only a silly game for grown up kids - let's not make it a big deal!

Not sure what bitching you refer to. I think we're (us four) are doing fine and dandy TBH. I just don't like Josh or the way that he runs his business and think it's a bit out of kilter with the way we run things.

I guess that leaves two of us to try and run things in 2009 then.......if you want to Kermit. :?

I always get hacked off this time of year. Dunno why, I just do. Friday, things got worse, and I had a massive project dropped into my lap. One I should have been told about back at the start of the financial year. The upshot is that something has to go. The college course, i'm in it for the long term so that ain't going nowhere. So it was either the Land Rover rebuild or Airsoft - no time for both. The Land Rover project is being bought off me by my mate Alan (which is good, I could do with the cash!) So i'm still sticking to Airsoft.

Anyhoo.........

I've got an idea. It's one that gives you lot a break. In short, March '09 & UCAP. I'll deal with the vast majority of stuff - including signage (though it wont be up to David's standard!) The only help i'll need will be a bit of admin booking people in on the day. OC wise, I'm quite keen to run it A2C style, i.e OC on each side is a hand-picked player, someone we can rely on.

It's about time the three of you had a chance of a good blat, and UCAP is perfect for it.

Thoughts, gentlemen?

When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........

Sorry, that wasn't clear. CiA was transformed by the departure of Yith and Gadge and became a 'can-do' rather than 'no-way' organisation :good: .
Yes, I suppose the Josh thing sums it up - while I have personal feelings about him and the way he does things I would rather take an overall view that the more WW2 stuff going on the better - after all, part of what we are doing is encouraging others. Hell, we can't do it all by ourselves!

It's great you can commit to that Jay.

With regard to OC-ing - curiously I get more enjoyment from running a team/side than running about shooting people so I'm not at all bothered about 'leading'. I insisted on 'just' being a player at Steiner's game and it was crap!

* Edit * Neill kept trying to put me in charge of our group while he ran off avoiding any sort of leadership , meh, I refused - wish I hadn't!

Heh! Didn't I say I was just a player at the beginning of In The Pocket too?!? In the end I just can't stand watching things so have to get involved!! Seemed to work well that day, others I should just leave it!

Jay called me earlier and I think the UCAP idea is a great one. We know exactly what we want to do and how to do it, plus the players are really into the idea so it should essentially book itself with minimal promotion.

I'll handle the booking thread and money side of course, no worries. I can give a hand with any signage/posters.

Lets get it booked.

:good:
Get in first ASAP!

FYI - from Gadge

March (any weekend) but pref end of March, say the 22nd or 29th - PBI presents 'Normandy Nightmare - Saint Lo' - US Airborne vs Waffen SS hedgerow fighting (prob grange farm as the berms would make wicked bocage) *or* an urban site for the town itself.

The strange concept of a British group running a game with no British in it - I'm sure the punters will think it odd too.

Having chatted to David most days for the last two years I can only say I can see where this is coming from , & TBH it's echoing the way I feel at the moment . As I said a while ago , my time is becoming more precious , with work and other commitments. I've dropped the vehicles , I've dropped all modern airsoft, and I suspect A2C wil have been closed by xmas.
I'm keeping all the WWII kit, and will continue to help organise and run our games, everything else is very shakey . I like our games, and most of the people who come to them who I can call good drinking buddies if not friends . The day I stop enjoying it is the day I'll wander off to find other things to do . I'm proud that we started this scene, and although we've had the odd upset along the way , generally am happy with it all . We catalysed something new and something good, to a degree it's time to let it fly to the next step , and it doesn't need us to really direct that . This forum has always been stress free , and we've coped with quite a few nobbers such as Stubblehopper and Josh . I would like to think it would continue in this theme for the entirity of it's existance.
we are all volunteers , we should be doing this because we find it fun , nothing else to add really .
