We need to bash these rules into shape. I suggest we work through them bit by bit.
Keep discussion positive, this is in our control.

Medic rules as initial draft:
All Soldiers start with 2 hits! The first hit can be healed with a bandage on the arm from a medic; the second hit is a medivac. If the soldier has more than 2 hits due to being a veteran or wearing body armour and or helmet, then they can take more wounds (Bandages) and can be healed more times before needing a Medivac.
When out of hits the wounded player must return to their CP and go to the medical tent to see how bad their wound is. This is done by a bead draw A BLUE bead will mean they

First thing to get rid of is the armour rule.
Helmet hits is an interesting topic that merits discussion.
Drawing lots for wound severity merits discussion.
Veteran concept is to foster loyaly - 1 can't see that other players will percieve that as fair.

Helmet hits not counting isn't a bad idea per se, with a controllable number of Airsofters. However, with the numbers Josh is talking about, I can see it causing many, many arguements.#
The "Veteran" idea is going to cause serious arguement. Period. You'll end up with the situation that crap 'softers who've been to a few weekenders will end up with a serious advantage over n00bs. What this will acheive is to put new players off joining in.

When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........
Also no helmet hits stinks of people putting their head over some cover and firing to get around the blind-firing rule.
A helmet wouldn't stop a direct round to the head anyway.
I vote to lose that rule.

Me too... its wank... ![]()
At the very least a hit to helmet will knock you back and stun you for a few seconds... may as well be the same as calling for a medic!
Helmets protect you against shell fraqgments and lumps of brick thrown up by blasts, not bullets.
One hit, then medic then dead.
It works lets not complicate stuff.

"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
For the record I like the idea of drawing token for wound severity. However, if someone gets unlucky it would be a real pisser for them.
When publicising this event I think we/Josh really REALLY needs to be clear about the level of role-play and suspension of disbelief that will be needed. It's a long weekender, so some players might welcome a break of 15 minutes every so often.
Also, how are regens going to work when fighting up a beach? These need to be quick to give the effect of wave after wave of deployment and also to give a chance for the Allies to get a foot hold. In a situation where people are fighting over open ground into entrenched positions the only way they will succeed will be with numbers. If the Allies and Axis are playing on equal footing during the initial assault I can only seeing it grinding to a halt whilst the Allies wait to regen.

Re helemt hits, whilst i can see steves point about ecouraging blind firing they also encourage the wearing of helmets which adds ot the authenticity of the event which has ot be worth considering.
I also like the idea of trying out some of Josh's not so odd rules at an event thats not really ours . if it works we can use it , if it's wank then we can say "NIH" and not use it again .
I think it would be incredibly feckin arrogant that after putting on two evetns we consider ourselves the experts on running games . We have a learning curve as well and part of my interest in Josh's event is to learn . Lets not stick our heads in the sand so soon .
At the very least a helmet hit should knock a player out for a minute or two.
Josh has resurfaced so I assume his wife's birth is done and dusted. He is asking how we are getting on with the rules so I'm bringing this to the fore again and would like to get back to him by Friday.
Rather than bob about can we decide on this helmet thing - can we give it a try? It will be a 'reward' for chaps to endure helmets for the weekend
- it will look much better too.
Phoenix has always had a rule that gun hits don't count - that has never caused a problem so I don't see why helmet hits would.
This also ties in with his medic rule - his proposal is for a dedicated medic to administer bandages. He is keen to foster roles on players but there aren't that many players who want to be medics - our take on the medics is better conceived I think.
So, assuming we change the medic rule to ours (players carry own bandages, anyone can administer, medic bag carrier can remove bandage for extended play) thereafter rules coincide (two hits and back to CP unless medic'd, 5 minute bleed out). And back to helmets - if a helmet hit is considered to be a minor injury then could that be 'healed' by a medic without a bandage? In other words, get hit on the helmet - call for a medic. If the medic bag carrier can't get to you and tag you then a comrade will have to use your bandage to heal you and so haven't gained any advantage.

Hmm, that sounds better, but could lead to confusion. Also, could it be abused by sitting next to a medic and just tagging them?
My main concern is that people will find ways to abuse the rules like popping their head over a parapet and using the helmet to draw fire.
I just think Josh is overcomplicating things, so many people were confused about our rules at Arnhem....
I just think the helmet rule is cack and doesn't make any sense.
Having said all that, it's good to give new ideas a try and I'd rather do that at someone else's event!
In conclusion, I'd rather not go for the helmet shot thing, but then I doubt I'll be attending this event so....whatever!

Josh is getting frustrated that nothing appears to be happening. He is taking a stand at Beltring to promote the event as well as advertising in AI mag - he isn't pissing about!
As we stalled on the rules discussion I have re-written his rules with a simplified set and offer it to you for prompt discussion:

For further information:
'Operations' weekend of 22nd Sept. The previous weekend he is running a re-enactment battle and all the set dressing will be left in place.
With both the Axis and now US wanting to get together for 'training' here is the ideal common location.
Josh has bought two flatbed trucks and is painting them up and adding canvas covers for troup transport plus a few period vehicles are planned.

CW... I make no apologies for my inaction... I did say I wasn't getting involved in this.
Well what does he want to happen?
Again im highly unilkely to attend the event and definatley wont be at any 'training' events.
We've suggested a rules set, told him the ones we think are unworkable,
Sanctuary rule for medics wont work its just going to piss players off.
Golden comeback is awful
Still think combining paint weapons on the field with airsoft type eye protection is a recipe for disaster, why not use nerf rockets?
Suggest adding g36s and bullpups to the banned weapon list or you're going to see a lot of 36s and sa80s
To be honest if they want our supports why not use our 'counts as' system. We know it works.
As it stand si could turn upi to guman in a sage green flight suit, tan molle webbing and an sa80 and still be ok by the rules.
And as we've discussed before playing roles for the day is a bit crap, surely players style of play should be dictated by what they bring and they should have the option of switching, why cant a layer carry a sniper rifle and an smg as they did at our events if they want to?
I'm involved because we agreed to back this as a group, if i saw this advertised otherwise i wouldn't go anywhere near it sounds bloody awful to be honest.
Ive done loads of LARP this looks like a great system is you have a load of larpers there, its going to go to ratshit with airsofters, i know i know i know that josh has apparently done load sof airsoft events but it doesnt come across from the plan im looking at.
I wouldnt be motivated to play this for

"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
But my main point is what do you want me to do for this personally.
I've said i'll help support it publically and i will but what am i supposed to be doing
rules ? promotion? attendence?
Scenario
Its seems he's fixed on the firs tand third and short of sticking a banner on here for the second what do we do?

"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
No need for the aggression, I'm trying to move things forward.
I understand you won't be attending this event or indeed any of our Axis or Allied training days either, your choice. I would have thought your experience would have been a useful asset along with Stubble's and Heide's but there you go.
I'll add our weapons list. Bear in mind that he has a warehouse of clothing and this is such a huge planned event you just are not going to fill it with pukka kit. I removed mention of flag armbands - if you can't tell which side the players is on then the kit is wrong. I'll add our list of looks-like kit.
I have removed all mention of specfic roles except engineer which is worth trying out, otherwise it just mentions ammo limits and provide smoke/grenades.
If this sounds bloody awful it's because it ain't finished 'cos of the lack of response. This isn't LARP - it's OUR game, we have been given a free hand.
I missed that Golden comeback, wondered what you meant! That want's to go.
Incidently - our 'approved' kit and weapons requirements is totaly missing from the forum, or at least I can't find it. ![]()

Its not aggression Dave its just frustration at seeing a load of unnecessary rules that go against every KISS priciple we've debated to death in the past.
e.g. coloured paint for different damage levels
As for training days...
I work two weekends in four, if im giving up a third its got to be for good reason (a site visit or a game) i simply dont have the weekend s for messing about trianing... add to that i currrently cant walk properly and can harldy stand for five mins or more, im not going to be triang anybody in this state.
As it is i was about to post a pretty important bulletin on the CR board about this.
I will now.

"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
