No, who responded to me and what did they say?

Er, I deleted it and there wasn't a reply to your post HS!

Ah good. The amount of times I've written a reply to someone then just deleted it instead of posting.
Pfff.

As a few members are debating points int the rules that Josh has posted that have already been discussed here for change, can we find out when/if the revised rules will replace the current ones?
I assume one or two of you have talked to Josh about it at Beltring.

I'd like to know a the moment its confusing to players a lot of them think we are organising this.

"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
After having a good chat with Guy this morning things sound pretty good.
However, my slight issue (and it's only slight) is with Josh's communication, both with us and with the public. It would have been much better if he'd given us a heads-up before posting those rules, and would have also been better if the rules were fully set before posting.
He's opened them up for debate online which, as Dave said, is just asking for trouble. He's agreeing to change/lose rules as and when people challenge them such as the lo-cap rule and the helmet hit rule.
It might be an idea to freeze the threads for a while then reopen with the rules that we've advised on and say that "them's the rules, like it or lump it"....IMHO most will toe the line, and those that don't (Oddball for example) aren't much of a loss. ![]()
Like I said, this isn't a bitch, just observations of how *our* public are perceiving this event. Most comments are positive and a lot of people are talking about entering the event as CiA based squads in matching outfits which is deeply encouraging.
Finally, I think it would be great if us CiA organisers all got to play on the same side for this event, which I guess would be German. I think we'd all get a lot out of it.

yeah be cool if we all played together as germans.

meh... just another reason for me not to be there then... heh

You could be the Brit Airborne Commander you know ........
& yes it would be funny if we were all Germans .....
Sorry Yith, wasn't trying to be exclusive....just assumed that you weren't going to be there. I've picked it up from some of your subtle hints.... ![]()

If we do can we all get 'pizza grenadier' cufftitles for laugh and see if anyone notices?

"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Thats Italian Volunteers I'm guessing
Legion Spaghetti Carbonera
Carbonara Korps?
Calamari Korps?
Gelato Grenadiers?

heh... I'm not going to be there... do what you want ![]()
OK another chat with Josh , another deal done
He'll send me the booking form so we can post it up , we'll also run a provisional booking thread to keep an eye on numbers.
Also agreed that we'll take the Germans and he'll take the Allied, so we can can all play on the same side. If this is not what you'd like ot do , then that won't be a problem, as we'll probably meet up in August to develop the plot further .
Plot wise he's not overly knowledgable about DDay historically. I've suggested we write the back story , and that he bases the game on Omaha beach , as that will allow for the most amount of fighting and possible some interesting subplots ( Pont du Hoc?) . It also avoids the whole DD tank thing. ![]()
If we gets lots more Brits than us then we may have to modify , but as the Brits are airlanding , we could say the initial assualt of St Mere Eglise went tits up and the only troops left to send were UK forces.
Progress !

Thats an understatement given the 'ss were all press ganged angels who didnt want to be there' discussion we had in the past ![]()
I thought his knowledge of history seemed sketchy at best.
Far better if we do the back story, definatley progress.
Merville battery is the obvious allied air attack on a fixed position but that was to clear sword beach.

"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
He has a problem with literacy ( dyslexia? although he didn't say) which limits his ability to research thoroughly . He's been watching as much History Channel as he can , so you can see why his knowledge is a bit skewed
. He was thinking of keeping it generic ot avoid stitch counting, I convinced him that a good back story without being anal is a really good way of enthusing players.
So it's over to us !
Gadge
I know Richard doesn't want to come which is fine , however are you still up for coming as German ? I didn't want ot book you in without knowing for sure.
Yes put me in although as im between jobs there is the slightest possibility that i may have to cancel if new employment isnt compatible.
