well from the Axis side, finished play at 8pm, sounds like they had fun possibly end of day 2-1 to the allies
UNKNOWN CiA streakers seen romping and being at one with the woods alledgely last night (makes me almost grateful I haven't witnessed it, though I now need therapy as I've been told
Sounds like they having a hoot though jammy gits ![]()
Edited to add I was told but they shall remain nameless as am sure someone else will shame them
![]()

Whoop! 'Mon the Allies ![]()
They're only loosing cos I'm not there
(thats my excuse an am sticking to it, they have an unfair disadvantage
) ... seriously though there is tomorrow morning to go yet
so all could change
and the source for info may have been wrong (he wasn't sure if 88 assault was won by the allies but thinks it was
)

They're probably only winning 'cause I'm not there...

Seen weather for tomorrow, mist rolling in first thing (bet that looks cool) leading to a sunny morning
I just hope someones taken some great pix of the event

from what Josh said at the end seems a overall win to the allies
go us. will post more later as im bloody crackered at the moment but had a fantastic time and still cant believe how fast we rolled you germans off the beach
oh and tom you're a complete pussy for not coming! there will be a nasty forfeit instore for you at F&O I think

Nooooooooo you can't sleep or anything you need to post every little detail Rhys
NOW
Is Tom going to be assigned the special duties at F & O ?
Update from Che, Fandgalos and Gadge, they had a tyre blow out before they hit Newport, thankfully nothing serious, spare was a tempory though so they had to stop in Newport for a new un to continue the journey, not had an update from them since they found either kwikfit or halfords cos I gave them details for both
. Apparently its all Gadges fault as it was the wheel he was sitting over

There was a bit (ie, large) difference between the HUGE amount of allies we killed and the rather naff amount that the allies killed! Despite the fact that they outnumbered us by more than 30% on saturday and by 100% on sunday!
I'm not very good at writing game reports but I will say that we held the allies on the beach phase and fired all of our artillery rounds during the night phase befroe the guns were finally captured. I think we lost it on sunday, mostly because we were outnumbered 2 to 1 more than anything.

When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
Did you enjoy it though ? what with being at one with nature

lol Helga not sleep just a quick soak in the tub then sorting out my various bits of kit.
bits of info... ok where to begin:
day kicked off with the beach attack. Long walk down, thought we were going to be there for hours as the germans looked very well entrenched. Was hilarious seeing us running in waves from the landing craft just to get cut down en masse at the beginning. but we broke through pretty fast.
the germans then fell back to another set of dunes which we then pushed onto and cleared them out off. Was tough fighting up the sides of the dunes but made for some fantastic fights.
the germans then fell back further and the airborne went off for some downtime. Us infantry then attacked the germans in their newly entrenched positions and after lots of attacks, and counter attacks a halt was called because we just couldnt dislodge them far enough.
we then went back for some lunch and the airborne put in a attack on the 88's (and german fort?). once we'd had some grub we joined the airborne in the attack. Ok well actually we got lost trying to get there as Josh took us to the other side to go in, then we lost him while he was on the radio and just got lost in general. We found the german camp(which we couldnt attack anyway) just as the end of game whistle was blown lol, the only shot fired by us was... well me thinking the lad 20yrds ahead was a german, when infact he was a brit
. Apparently we did a good job though as germans were diverted from the airborne to try and find us. As I understand it the airborne managed to spike both the 88's too.
then we all retired around the fire and much drinking and chatting was had. Along with craig managing to set my stove, himself, and our ground blanket thing on fire. Josh imedielty tossed his beer on it only to scatter fast, along with everyone else, when we pointed out there was a gas canister still in the stove. Fortunatly dog had a fire bucket handy and doused it.
there was another fire incident later that night but I'll let Mike tell that one
next day started off with us defending our own artillery and the fort by one of the guns. Myself, barrie, anne, craig and 2 other rangers met the germans first at a sniper tower. they sauntered(despite peeking out the back of the truck and seeing us on the way down) down the road right into a hail of BB's heh. but there was only 6 of us so we got pushed back and eventually collapsed when craig was taken out by barries grenade
we held them up a shade longer in our camp then fell back to the fort. Where there was quite possibly the best fighting of the weekend. very very intense with tons of pyro and firefights. eventually under a massive hail of grenades we were thrown out the fort and then got to try taking it back.
Im not sure how exactly it got taken back but from what I heard we asked Josh if we could turn our own gun on it to blow the germans out. so we retook the fort and not to long after the game ended.
Really really enjoyed the entire weekend and cant thank josh and his team enough.
and yes tom will be on very special duties at f&o lol.
There were lots of people taking footage and pictures including the AI guys so hopefully we'll see more pics up soon

Overall, I have to say I did enjoy it. The socialising particularly. I don't think I'd do it again but it was good to experience fighting on a beach, surrounded by people who are getting to know each other better with each game that comes. The communication on the Axis side was great, because we mostly know each others names! We knew we'd done something right when we were asked by the marshalls to "pull back a bit to give the allies a chance"! It was good fun to do some night fighting without having the little rich kids using night vision too. It's a great leveller when NOONE can see anything! I actually got a "bang" kill on a brit para, after I stepped on him in the dark and smoke!
Don't want to discuss the negatives, because it was good as a one off event.

you only held us at the final set of dunes. it took us less than 15 mins to clear your initial beach defences. On sat it was 80 odd germans killed to 400 allied killed(but what do you expect with the beach landing) and today 300 german killed to 90-100 allies. Plus each shell fired counted for 10 kills so you didnt actually KIA all the numbers of saturday.
and today you most definetly were less out numbered. a portion of guys actually switched to german to even the sides. and other players(like some of gunmans staff) opted out to help too. our squad halved in size overnight.

I don't want to hear the negatives either this post is merely for making me even more jealous than I already am ![]()

Fair enough Helga just want to offer both sides of things. cant wait for the follow on in april. personally didnt feel there were any real negatives about the event.

I mean anything that desends to squabbling, I wasn't there thus can offer no comment on anything that could/can be disputed
and don't want to be drawn into so and so did that, and so and so didn't do that ... am sure you can think of the things I mean, I won't spell it out, it hasn't happened yet on my thread of envy
PS I realise there will be things "constructive" that may be of use to Gunman, but am sure if he wants to know he'll start his own thread on here or his site
and people can bleat their lil hearts out if they want to ![]()

eh to be honest cant say theres much I can think of and the bits I can were beyond control. Enjoyed every minute of it... well except mike waking me at 1:30am lol.

can he not do it on his own
what a nice chap aiding a mate in need
I shall await Mikes real version of events rather than the ones I'm twisting ![]()

In answer to how the fort got retaken i can help you there, aparently it seems that either two things happened the Germans retreated because of our flanking movement towards there spawn or that the 88's took them out, all i know is all my squad got killed apart from aparently one, who took out an unsuspecting german coming to capture the wounded, on our flankig manouver from the road, then i end up alone on the edge of the forrest taking pot shots at the fort, suddenly there is a huge roar as the british commandoes charge a the fort hurling pyros one taking a hit, i instantly turn to give supressing fire on the one German i could sethen joining in the charge, when i get to the fort there is one commandoe left (the one in the hat and windproof smock) and he is busy healing people so i take a peek inside the fort then bash down the baricade covering the corners, me being the first one back in the fort the rest well you all know.
all in all it was amazing apart from my initiall goggle trouble the fort bit was epic and intence it was sheer inscanity in there, shame we got lost during the night although all the pyros and the flairs and the fact that people were fiering fireworks added to a really great atmosphere. also Rhysd2 were you the one with the garand conversion badged up as a ranger i cant really recognise people in helmets ?
