Just a Brief Update from Josh at Gunman
Firstly
After some negotiations with the CCW wildlife people who look after the beach / wildlife reserve ( although don’t actually own it) the following has been agreed .
1 He will be allowed to build landing craft, and have sandbagged positions for the beach landing
2 We will not be allowed to use any pyro on the beach, or any vehicles on the dunes , and must ensure that no litter is left behind at all .
The pyro is a bit annoying, although once the battle moves into the woods rather than be beach we can use as much pyro as we like and use vehicles sidecars etc. As the beach phase of the op is likely to last most of the Saturday afternoon , it will only effect 1/3 of the whole 24hours.
As CCW had the right to veto the whole event (and wanted to, despite the landowner being more than happy with us ) we feel that a little compromise was worth it to get the beach . There you go ,make sure you hug the trees when you are there in appreciation !
Secondly – Timings
He advise's everyone to get down on the Friday night if possible or close to 9 on Saturday . This will allow for tent setting up etc before the game gets underway , and also give you time to walk the site a bit .
We are aware the sun will set at around 5pm , so there could be five hours of night fighting in the woods, after the day on the beaches or we could look to calm things down earlier to more of a social than the 10 as I suspect most will be absolutely bollaxed by 6 pm . Feedback on this would be appreciated as it’s open to debate at the moment .
Finally there can be night ops past 10 if there is a real interest , although my comments about being knackered count even more . Again some idea of interest would be good .
More to come from Josh later .
All sounds great.
1st off my thought .
I would love to do the night exersizes i know in the past when reanacting on 24 hr camps ive never slept. to eager for action.
So i would be game for exersizes through the night. hell i would be happy with guard duty on camp all night.
2nd.
I can source masses for hessian sacks. for sand bags. I have been using to shred and dye for a ghuille suit for normal Aissoft. i only have about 10 at the moment but if you require it i can get much much more.
These are free of charge so let me know in advance so i can grab a load.
Pyros: Are we saying no smokes on the beach either.
We use to have simular problems on the english heratige sited and when using black powder weapons you would leave a trail of paper cases. at the end of every battle/week end we would form a line and sust do a walk over the site picking up as we go.
Just an idea.
no pyro on the beach is a bit of a disadvantage for us allies IMO and sucks royally but if we cant change it we may not have a choice. Will they not even let us use smokes?
as for night ops, done them in the past but would prefer to avoid it this time as the day fighting will be enough. some dusk/night fighting before the shutdown for sleep sounds fine though

Some night ops would be fun, but we need to eat, relax and socialise. Anything past 8pm would be too much for me.

You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
Sadly smokes as well as pyro
As I understand it it's more about "disturbing the habitats" than the rubbish left behind although thats an issue too.
I think the site is a breeding ground for the lesser ribbed novelty condom .
Re sandbags there will be a crew on site for three days before the event filling sandbags amongst other things so hopefully we wont have to ![]()
All. Depends. On. The. Weather.

As this will be my first WW2 event I`ll go with the flow....but I think 5 hours of fighting in the dark will be a struggle, maybe 2 or 3 then a bit of a social for the rest of the evening. Just my two penneth ![]()

I think thats a bit of a crap deal really as its going to make things a bit harder , and take some of the fun/realism out of it. is there any negotiation room at all? It'dbe crappy not having grenades but I could live with it if we can at least have smokes

I agree it will take some of the atmosphere, however the negotiation went from " we can't possibly allow airsofting on the beach" to where we are today which is "you can use the beach excpet for pyro"
AFAIK no one has ever managed to secure a beach specifically for airsofting (now sits back and waits for floods of contradictions ) so we've had to grab as much as we can get away with . Hopefully if they are happy with how this one goes it may allow some movement in the restrictions if we use this particular beach again .
kk all sound good to me. to be honest its the allies that will be goosed a bit. the other way round is building some abbandoned covvering positions around the beaches for the allies to have some attacking cover.
Glad i picked axis.
Re sandbags: Well just let me know becuase the supplies are there if you need them i will bring some withh me on my person anyway just in case but its not a prob to get more.
The not-so-great solution could be the use of non-pyro alternatives.
IE, if someone manages to throw a tennis ball (or something not so obviously a tennis ball) into an entranched position then everyone has to bug out ....or summat.

you can get 100% bio degradable nades. are these not a option as dried peas are good for local wildlife

Aye I see your position and its a good turn around to get them to budge that much. But if they really wont budge more we need some sort of way for the allies to cover themselves and clear out hardpoints we would have used grenades for. As was demonstrated at wotan yesterday by both the allies and germans, once one side was in a secure position only grenades could dislodge them.
I know that this is more open and out doors but that also means we're far more vunerable and had planned to use smokes/grenades even more

As I had to miss out on Wotan I'll be up for night Ops as late as anyone else wants to.
like i sed will i dont think i could sleep idf i wanted to. i will be on stag if nothing else.

Well negotiated, Guy - thanks.
Although in the airsoft world we like to use smoke, I don't recall seeing any on SPR....
Yes, I know it's not 100% accurate, but still....

Will certainly be difficult to take entrenched positions without grenades.
Something we've used before is the ability to call in artillery if you complete a sub-objective, similar to the Bulge game.
IE: If you can get a mortar into a certain position and call in the name of the battery you want to mortar by having a spotter with binoculars you can knock out that battery for 30-60 seconds which then gives enough time to move up on it.

Josh's work more than mine !
TBH I'm not sure how much smoke would help , there are a lot of onshore breezes that will dissipate smoke very quickly . Something to bear in mind if you're planning on going single shot .
How about using foggers, the rational could be that it's smoke from artillery strikes, I'm not sure how practical or effective, (or costly), they'd be, also there is the question of how the 'fog' is produced although seeing as they're used at concerts I can't imagine that H&S regs would allow anything dangerous to be used.
With regard to grenades the tennis ball solution could be made to work seeing as we already use the proximity rule for grenade kills, it might not be as effective as using real pyro but it's got to be better than nothing.

im gonna struggle. single shot sniper. just hope not much wind that day or i be as much use as chocolate fire guard.
