Hi guys, sorry about this pyro thing! Ive used this site for years and never had any problems with pyro before!! New thing! and I wasn't warned about the CCW until I was on site with guy 2 weeks ago and introduce to a nice chap called 'Duncan'. Almost lost the beach altogether (no beach, no D-Day!!), as they now have triple SSI all over the dunes as well as bird sactauries that have popped up since last August 2006! We have however managed to secure two large areas of the dunes for airsofting at a dent in the budget
but this will leave us with possbalities to use it again next year! In my vast experience of running events on contriversial sites (some 10 years) I have found do it right once and the doors are opened for more opertunities later. D-Day+1 is already being put together for early 2008:-)
No pyro is No pyro however when we get into the woodland/sand dune interior of the Merthr Mawr estate ....lets rock comes to mind!
Ill see if i can get smoke machines ok (I have two) but no promises! for the time being as Allied Commander for the 29th Infantry and the rangers I'll do everything I can to push our lads over the shingle and down the enemies throat!
cool beans...out

any update on this josh?

People should realise quite what Gunman was up against if it was Natural England trying to scupper everything. We run into these people all the time at work. We're lucky it's happening at all. Well done Gunman.
Setting up tents etc first is a very good idea.
We'd rather call it a night shortly after dark and have an evening around the campfire.
oh wasnt questioning how well hes done
just wondered if a solution had come up yet ![]()

Not having a go - just pointing out how well Gunman's done - if you've never dealt with Natual England types you'll have no idea how obstructive they can be.
(Somebody on this forum will work for Natural England now knowing my luck).
Sorry guys, not even smoke (that was my call) as the chap on the end of the blower was starting to get fed up with me hassling him! As soon as we hit the main site we can all go boom tastic however
Going to keep plugging them after the event to see if we can use pyro for D-Day+2 n 3 next year:)

Why do D-day again, why not a different battle or beach landing.
You could do op huskey, torch, baytown (sicily, north africa and italy respectivley)
There are so many battles in the second world war it seems a bit naff to just do the same one over and over.

"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
fair enough on the no smoke. has a way been worked out(like the tennis ball idea) so we can clear hardpoints on the beach etc?

I like that enough to run with it. Ill see if we have time to get a load painted up and ring pulled (no promises)

The D-Day events won't be the same at all, but the theme and STORY will evolve and continue!!.
Dont you watch movies and TV series dude?
Heer Schmidt
No i read books.
You learn about history that way.

I suppose keeping the D Day name makes sense in a marketing way, in much the same way as Town Assault is used.
As this one is D Day The Battle for Normandy, its easy enough to maybe use D Day The Battle for Sicily or such like, after all D Day has been used as a description for many ops, just not so publicly.
It would be nice to have a Meditteranean themed game so peeps could don some tropical gear for a change....but I`m not sure if thats a good idea in November ![]()
You could always do Gold, Sword or Juno beach too.

Yeh
