Typewriter font is fine, but it's hard to read with that background. Especially the writing on the right. Consider a different colour maybe.
And yes, looks like a 50 star flag and you should use the 48 star.
And should there be a full stop after Doughboys? I think not.
Is it the right flag?
The chap on the left look like a bit of a poofter too.
Grammatically, no. But I was testing a 'make it look like a typewritten bit', full stops are something I associate with typewriters so I thought I would plonk one in and people would say 'that looks stupid' if it did.
Yes it is
Don't know him I'm afraid, just a random Pic from Gaydar.
Ok I do concede on a point and come begging for help, how do you make the shading/aura/whatever it is called, behind the text like on... All the other banners?
A banner Is the frontal identity of the group, so it needs to look good, and reflect what your about. Black and whites images are cool and really work well when flashes of colour are introduced. Id stay away from the cliche' fonts.
If your gonna use a light colour font on a light background then add a slight drop shadow behind 1 to 2 pixels will suffice. That will help punch the text away from the page. Been designing banners and advertising for years for Tesco.com, and thats how i was taught.
If you wanna try out some new fonts use, 1001fonts.com they are all free. I've used them for yonks.
What program are you using to design the banner?
Heh, I'm losing my touch - you haven't blown a gasket yet Wladek! My teasing is failing.

Luckily I know what I am doing so it is easy-peasy (is it working yet?) Creating miniature pieces of art in a 468x60px space is an art form so I don't expect you to achieve anything like my creations (you must be getting irritated by now) - what program are you using anyway?
If its photoshop. Then double click on the text layer to bring up the layer properties. They find the option called drop shadow. Click and tick the box then adjust the angle, size and spread of the shadow.
Dave, I don't know about Wladek, but are you using Adobe Patronising Bastard v3.4.9?
Lol why dont u like photoshop stephen?

It's wind-up-Wladek Day today - didn't you know? Poor chap!
Oh yeah, 'Adobe Photoshop Elements' is what it says on the top of the window.
I have been able to make the writing stand out, but only with cock awful colours.
I appologise for my lack of irritation Chomely, but on the big list of things I take seriously my skills in this regard are ranked pretty low.

Poor chap!
I have my own day?
Oh and I double click on the layer, and nothing pops up.

Double click on the text layer in the Layer listing.
Hmm, that brings up a box labeled 'Layer Properties', but the only thing it has is Name, Ok, Cancel.
I managed to work every other bloody thing out, grrrrr.
OK, I'll help then!
I've just booted up a copy of Photoshop Elements 3.0 and what I use isn't there but if you have this version then you might have a rummage through the 'Style and Effects' menu and look for Layer Styles > Drop shadows (or Outer Glows). My daughter has the latest version of Elements and I'm sure that's more like Photoshop proper (but I can't check until tonight). Anyway, layer styles is what you need!
Thank you Chomley, didn't work but one should always thank kindnesses. According to the internet people Elements doesn't have such a simple feature, but they all know cheats.
Another shot with the text - And, for the first time, I hope ALL the right text.
At least I am learning, and growing as a human being.
Elephants 4.0 on the Mac has a drop-down above the layer menu which opens the 'syles and effects' menu.
Mac software can be totally different to Windows though so it might not be in the same place.
Screen shot:
Like it.
Good job wladek
Yup, Headshot - Elements 3 for Windows is exactly the same.
Wladek - if it isn't open on the right of your screen then go to Window > tick Style & Effects
Clicking Window > Reset Pallette Locations might restore things if you have been moving & closing down stuff..

I closed down the entire photoshop as a statement of 'I've been at work since 9 o'clock and done nothing but drink coffee and play on this!' Not that I mind, but I should really do something.

I failed by the way, all I did was drink coffee and look for French uniforms. Tsk, Work. Overrated I say.
