Jesus, it was 5 years ago, I dont remember.
I would say yes but because of the size of the smock it would be well diluted.

Cheers fella, when you say Light cotton I take you mean in material and not colour.
Light brown/Khaki or Olive would probably be best.
Chers guys, I'm off shift from Tuesday so I'll give it a try this week. I think I'll try the Khaki or tan colour.
Armoury: AGM MP40, AGM Sten MkII, K98K/vsr and Maruzen P38.
Has any one used Planet trading co on E bay for their FJ helmets if so are they any good. They say they are a supplier of Replica weapons etc and the helmets are £39.99 plus £10.50 P+P
Armoury: AGM MP40, AGM Sten MkII, K98K/vsr and Maruzen P38.
Looking at the other items they sell those will be Deepeeka helmets. I seem to remember that their shells are good, but the liners less so. Someone else (or a quick forum search) should be able to confirm.
If so, should be a good budget helmet. Liner is an easier fix than an incorrect shell
Cheers again.

Aye, I've already been put right on that.
Looking pretty good there Nils. You definitely need some jump boots or gamaschen to get the bottoms of those trousers tucked in and bloused properly but I'm sure you know that already. Some ammo pouches might be a good idea depending upon your choice of weapon.
FJ didn't wear Gamaschen,
They did late war when low boots could be worn due to shortages. It doesn't matter if they're blue or green, by the time FJ were resorting to using low boots the LWFD were using Heer equipment and anything would go really. I have a spare pair if you can't get any jump boots. A green breadbag is fine for late war too.
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
What is the best Jump Smock for FJ ?
Best quality ?
Best realistic design?
Best splinter b?
Best tan and water?
Best green?
Best Type 1?
Best Type 2?
Best Type 3?
Your question could be all of the above, some of the above or one of the above.
There are many versions, suppliers etc - some crap, some okay and some fantastic. Please provide some more info of what your after.
Another factor I guess is which period of the war are you thinking about or do you want something that will fit most years?
i'm looking at something which will fit most years
plus i've seen most guys wearing more splinter then Tan
i'm not looking for something that is spot on but something which will cover most events
plus are the ones from epic better then the ones from sof
T & W is late war - I would go with Splinter B, covers a wider period.
The splinter smocks on SoF are made by Sturm, Epic's one looks better, but I'm no splinter expert lol - the Epic one has 'flaws' - the upper pockets are the wrong cut for starters, the flaps go all the way to the shoulder. They shouldn't but heh it's for airsoft so I'm sure no one would stichnazi the epic ones lol.
I got my latest one from Barry Lyndon in HK, some of the re-enactors have bought those, but then some re-enactors have bought very expensive ones that may/may not be correct either.
It's still a bit of a minefield - but getting better as the years go on.
If I was you I would not go for a Type 2 (Step-in version), but a Type 3 - not being funny but out there in the field , if you have to go, it's easier for you with a Type 3 lol
Marsha, if I were buying one, I'd go to Richard Underwood, who stocks Barry Lyndon's - as I understand it, it is the best value proper Splinter B pattern smock, at £95. (Splinter B is the Luftwaffe version of the camo, which is slightly different. Amazingly, I think Sturm are still making smocks in Splinter A, which is wrong.)
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
The one smock that covers 1940-45 is the green step in. Sturm's are ok, a bit wrong cut and the fabric is way too soft but the color is spot on!
If I were in your shoes I'd go for Spearhead's Splinter type 3 as it's the best value for money. Not great but quite acceptable.
The one I see at Epic's (costing 56.99) is the wrong pattern, it's Army Splinter. BTW for 3rd type smocks the upper pocket flaps are supposed to go all the way up to the shoulder seam.
If you want to get really serious consider either Panther Store or G-Max, but they cost. None are perfect but they are the best ones out there.
ok so what type of smocks are these ?

I think the first one is a splinter A smock, so not quite the correct pattern, have a look here, theres a comparison of the two patterns a and b
second one is late war tan and water
third one is early war step in smock
Want a nice looking smock? scroll down to see a cracker. http://www.richardaunderwood.com/news.php
Not super cheap but nice.
Please consider joining the movement to eliminate 'tan & water' from the vocabulary. It is useless as a description of the print. Use 'Sumpf' or 'Marsh' instead and rid the hobby of this nasty term. thank you.

Hi Marsha,
Buy a type 3. IMO Cheapest is best. It's only going to get trashed
HI Marsha
As Steinlager wrote
Forget the first one, it's Army splinter.
Second one is a Sumpf pattern (Poacher, ), encountered from '43 onwards (this resembles the later '44 pattern BTW)
Third one is the green step-in (type 2) which was issued from the 40's all the way to the end of the war.
The one in the link provided by Poacher is the Spearhead (Barry Lyndon) type 3
thanks for advice guys i now know which one to go for
Ok a new question..
Would It be "ok" to wear black collar tabs as a Fallschirmpionier?
