Ive seen far more images of fliegerbluses with metal jump eagle...but it wasnt at all uncommon for the fabric ones.
AFAIK, the blue flecked shirts were for dress only.

Guess so, i've seen heer lads wearing the sports vest under the tunic in russia though.

Look at photos of Crete...you will see a lot of them have even gone as far as to ditch the wool pants (as well as fliegerbluse).
In Martin Poppels book, "Heaven and Hell: The War Diary of a German Paratrooper" he comments that they jumped into Crete wearing the exact same stuff they used to jump into Narvik.
Did the FJ do the same with their gas mask bags as the Heer etc did with their gas mask tin - i.e. remove the gas mask and fill it with other stuff?

If you are looking for a good GP bag...try the grenade 'water wings'. I know At The Front makes some, and I think HKK does as well. Not sure about any sources for you British boys.
