Either way it's probably better than me or Charlie leading, as we have long resigned ourselves to getting killed in embarrassing and foolish ways.

Regrettably Liz does have a valid point, and it is almost invariably my fault.

I think most of our days are spent at or looking for re-gen. I believe that there is a genuine argument for us being issued extra bandages!

I have a small skewer hidden in the collar of my jumping jacket, and a razorblade in my gaiter, as well as my knife.

If not I don't mind volunteering for the job

Go on Steve, you know you want to :good: We need to maintain the tradition of British victory, just go and duff up those Luftwaffe and SS types and leave the Pioniere alone. We aren't even German! (2nd Panzer being from Austria and all that..).

Cheers
Martin

So how far are we taking the Austrian thing? Are we still going to do sing-along Sound of Music?

Please say you're doing the whole game in Lederhosen.

I think our defining moment was casually strolling across a field, directly towards a german machine gun, only to get cut down mid chit-chat.

Shame you're turning your coat for this one Martin! Just make sure you don't step into our sights...

Yes, I think it was dashed rude of Jerry to interrupt our amble so aggressively.

I am grateful to you for not mentioning the numerous occasions I blew us both up with hand grenades

Well, the moths will start eating my German kit if it doesn't have the odd outing. I don't mind getting shot by the Brits, it is preferable to being shot by the Americans :)

As for singalong Sound of Music, fine by me. I did turn up at the Sheffield Lyceum for the singalong as the only one in a German uniform (my wife was in her Nuns outfit), and being booed by several thousand people in the fashion parade was quite funny.

Not sure if I'm man enough for the Lederhosen though Liz

Now as Panzergrenadiers, surely we should be singing this:

Although Erika is a better tune! :)

“I wanted to come to the Volga at a specific location at a specific city. By chance it carries the name of Stalin himself. So don’t think I marched there for this reason – it could carry another name – but because there is a very important goal... this goal I wanted to take – and you know – we are very modest, we have it already."
Adolf Hitler, November 1942

"Comrades, Red Army men, commanders and political workers, men and women guerrillas! It is on your perseverance, staunchness, fighting skill and readiness to discharge your duty to the country that the defeat of the German-fascist army and the liberation of the Soviet land from the Hitlerite invaders depend! We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."

Well I have learnt the first verse of both the Panzer Lied and Erika, so looks like the air will be filled with much manly throaty singing (unfortunately with a westcountry accent :slap: )

Appologies to the Brits we Germans seem to be doing a bit of a Poland job to your thread

Yes I very nearly shot a deer. I recall our little brit group also managed to terrify some cyclists as well.

Please feel free to sing all you want, letting us know exactly where you are, and what direction you're coming from.

i only know a few words from the sound of music " she was high on a hill with a great big dill , yodalay yodalay yodalayehoo"
may not be appropriate though on second thought's :giggle:

Give me a big enough hammer and a place to stand and I could fix the world.
i'll kill a man in a fair fight or if i think he's going to start a fair fight or over a woman or.......

i'd be right in saying that a turtle shell helmet would be right at this point in time , i think they were issued before D day , it would be one of the few occasions i can use it and be correct.
