aluminium, German Fire Brigade Helmet> DAK Helmet

My helmet ,started life as post war German fire brigade Helmet (Aluminium) very light weight

& after a coat of NATO green then beige 2k primer (old stuff with lots of bits in ) then i dabbed on wood stain (Burmese teak) with a piece foam



a voila 1 DAK helmet ,decals on order ,more pics to follow ,hope you like :wink:

Whats the markings under that BUND stamping (ie as in etched in the helmet).

Useless fact or not (depending how you look at it), many WWII Helmets were painted used in civilian service after the war in guises such as the fire service.

Looks good. Are you going to change the chinstrap for a simpler wartime style one as well?

as for the chin strap ill prob leave atm as its quite comfortable & it will only be used for airsofting anyway

It's a modern Feuerwehr helmet, complete with DIN stamp. I'd guess from the markings that date of manufacture is either 1984 or 1972. The number on it referred to the station house and the red stripe is rank insignia (regular firefighter) The white-greeny paint on the original would have glowed in the dark too. :D
