I have purchased the HBT Panzer Wrap uniform set & wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction for collar devices & Eagles. Impression is going to be Heer & not ss. Would the skull on black background on each collar and eagle on left sleeve be correct?

While we're at at, did the americans wear any insignia on the Tanker Jackets or HBT coveralls?

Thanks
'shokt

Hi there,

for a Heer Tanker the collar insignia is black patches with skull & bones/ piping is pink. Shoulderboards should also be edged in pink.

National eagle to be worn on right breast.

hope this helps

That shows what a noob I am - I thought only SS wore the skull badge.

The skull and crossbones is a Cavalry symbol that dates back a long, long time. IIRC, the 17th/21st Lancers in the british army had it as a cap badge for a long time.

All sorts of tabs, shoulder boards and metal badges.

Also has a very good selection of german insignia. Very quick turn round on orders. Quality is second to none.
As an aside, the wool field grey wrap [stug wrap] was issued to a select few panzer grenadiers. Panzer Lehr and the 116th Panzer Div being just 2.
Insignia worn varied, Lehr seem to have favoured litzen mounted on a green backing, piped for arm of service. 116th seem to have favoured panzer style patches in field grey, often with the skulls removed as per the '43 orders.

You could also get away with the black tab without the skull, the skull on its own or pink litzen, depending on wich particular unit you do.

Tip. Leave off the national eagle. Go for a 27th Penal Panzer Reg. loadout. Gives you far more scope for extra bits and bobs

I have a pair of full skull panzer collar patches if you still need them.

HBT panzer, thats what this thread is about isnt it? :D
The Europa Militaria book has some, as do Militaria Magazine but it's always the same few items reposed.

Nice pictures Del, Could you point me in the right direction for the correct 'badges' for the side cap, have just managed to get one on Ebay. I assume it to be an Eagle and below that a 'cockade'
Thanks

You want a triangular bevo one rather than the wool backed version. Which ever you choose they are tricky to sew, well was for me, 3 goes to get it straight and smooth.
