Hmm, true, I assumed you had coloured litzen.

Your suggestion for late war Pzr style litzen with totenkopf? The TK were ordered to be removed for non Panzer troops?
Stug crews and Aufklarung should all have removed the TK. Lots didn't but they should.
I'm only aware of 3 divisions that issued the special tunic [aka stug wrap] to infantry, actually panzer grenadiers. GD, Lehr and 116th Windhund. Are there more?
The Pzr style TK litzen were not to be worn on the regular tunic, I'm sure you can find a photo though but it is very rare. Those members of a Panzer division not issued the wraps wore the regular tunic with regular litzen.

I dont think there are, but more within the context of the divisional unit you portray, on an assault gun, or Recce crewman they are technically wrong, but more wore them than didnt. I suppose its only the same as squaddies today being told "Dont get one of those ally bits of kit from stores, its not for your role" and them blagging it anyway.

A lot hinges on being able to date images you find of guys wearing the TK.
There is that famous series of pictures that I quote quite often, 116th Aufklarung resting and getting mail. All but one wearing the wrap have no TK in their litzen. The only one who does has black litzen suggesting he was a transfer from panzer duties. These images are from the Bundes Archive and are dated. So many other pictures dont have that weight of evidence that a date gives and could be from any period and cant really be used to assess who did and who didn't or how many.

Exactly. But for the purposes of WW2 Airsoft, where it is assumed we all know at least a little bit about how things worked, surely a few liberties are allowable?

If we were talking about a re-enactment group display for the public I would be saying go with regs, as the mission there would be to demonstrate the typical soldier, rather than what you would like to do to allow you to do multiple units.
