Hi guys, i am hoping to put together a new load out using one of Anthonys 'the reich stuff' m36 sets.
I have however hit a bit of a snag, i want to use the set for an officers load out, however i have only just noticed that these sets are in fact the enlisted mans cut, one less button etc.
What i need to know is were the EM's tunics ever worn buy officers, so would it be acceptable for the basis of a load out. I know for ww2 airsoft it may not be such an issue, but i would also like to attend 40's events too, plus i would like the uniform to look right!
Any help advice will be greatfully recieved.
Thanks Phil aka DW

EM tunics would certainly have been worn by officers in the field to avoid wrecking their dress uniform. If you're wearing it as a dress uniform then I'd say it would be rather less likely but not impossible.

I concur. Plenty of pictures support this.... but.... EM's and officers' insignia are different. i.e. collar tabs, chest eagle.

You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
Hi, thanks for the info guys, i am well aware of the different collar tabs, shoulder boards, eagles etc, it was more the cut. With this set i am more likely to keep it as a good 'dress' uniform so to speak for the socials at games, dont see myself actually skirmishing in it. However at 40's events i will probably wear it with camo, as more of a front line uniform.

Do officers tunics not have French cuffs?
The official style does indeed have french cuffs and this is almost always the style worn when not in the front line.
The use of EM tunics by officers is something I looked into last year. The basic tunic was usually heavily tailored. A green or slightly deeper collar was a common adition. French cuffs either real or simulated[ a band of cloth sewn at both ends] was also common though not universal. Some featured no real additions but these always feature in combat shots and are often heavily worn and weathered.
I settled on an un modified M40 style which I am steadily dirtying and getting it scruffy. It is for very occasional use when our group need an officer in a combat role. We never usually have any officer rank.
I dont think an un modified tunic would be a great addition to you partying kit, a proper officers tunic from Ant-z might suit you better?

Had a feeling that might be the case, going to have to give it some thought now about what i'm going to do, as was a good price from anthony, can only hope he might be able to get some officers ones.

Right well this is one hell of a necro post but since my question is linked to the above i thought it better to post here.
This project was put on the back burner but i have got my backside in gear and want to finally get it sorted.
What i want to know is were officers tunics (French cuffs etc) only worn with breeches, or were they also worn with regular trousers? Want to know so i can work out if i just need to buy the tunic or a set.
Again cheers for all info guys
Phil
