It was used, it does help to steady full pouches when on the move. It could be removed as, even full of 500 round hicaps, they wont be as heavy or ungainly as when full of 7.92 kurtz.
I have a set for re-eancting, I kept the strap and half of my mags are rubber 'pouch fillers'. It does help.
Try them out before you dump it, you might regret it.

Nice, tan is much the better colour in my opinion. It just screams late war. Nothing wrong with green, mine are green, I just love the look of the tan. If the top flaps are all leather then they are usually taken to be post war. Lack of wartime pictures I think. Not sure if they are DDR or czech, both used the 44 post war.

If you're going to get tan ones and want to part with the green ones, Poacher, I'll buy them off you :)

I'll need two sets though, one for re-enacting, one for airsoft? I cant be arsed swapping back and forth, I have 3 pairs of K98 pouches for the same reason. 1 for inert 7,92, one pair for Blank and one pair for those shitty D-boys cartridge things.
