After seing a picture of Steiners excellent GrossDeutschland Tunic I wondered if it would be acceptable to use GD insignia on my M36 Tunic.

I believe that the green collars were taken out of service in 1940, but I have also read (somewhere) that the soldiers liked to keep them and in some cases actually removed them from the old tunics and fitted them to their new ones.
A few questions:
Should the breast eagle have the Black wool type of backing?
If I buy one, should the cuff title be backed in green rather than black or doesn't it really matter?
Would it be okay to add metal 'GD' pins to the shoulder boards or would it be better to buy the embroidered type?
I have a set of infantry collar badges (not yet fitted)
Should I have bought a different tunic ![]()
Thanks

As I understand it, the M36 tunic is fine - it continued to be worn throughout the war, and I don't believe there was any mass replacement done - they couldn't afford to. Shoulderboards - metal GD is for officers; EM's are actually dark green (although may appear black). Eagle - don't think it matters. Cuff title is on black, I think. Pre 44 the script was different, may have been on green, not sure.
Ask on http://www.gdrecon.co.uk Fairly helpful there.

Yep, I reckon you're good to go mate - you just need some GD shoulderboards (Soldier of Fortune). You have been officially transferred to the GrossDeutschland! ![]()
