The only thing you need to be careful of on German ebay is that quite a few users don't accept Paypal. There are one or two German speakers on here, so if you need any translation and Google doesn't do it properly, then post it up.

You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier

Just to add (and I'm a non german speaker, I know a few words) I've done loads of little deals with German ebay and never once had a problem, I've done my best to vocate in English and German in all messages (albeit it very badly to almost comical) and they've returned the favour (they don't all speak English as a second language, lots do though).

As steiner said main thing is to check for the blue paypal "p" at the side of the listings. Ones wanting bank transfers can seriously increase a price (lots) as you are not paying the extra money to the seller but for the priveledge (thats a joke) of your bank transferring the money to them. Some will also increase the price for costs that can be incurred at their end for bank transfers. Basically its easier with paypal

Check their feedback, if you can't understand it use altavista or a similar online translater to give you the gist of whats being said (though the numbers give you an idea too).

Definately look there though, there are bargains to be had (my canister and mask were my latest) but be prepared to wait and watch a few things as some go for silly money, and others flounder and then you pounce ;)

Germans have been the better people I've dealt with honesty wise on ebay, any run ins I've had have been with those of native English tongue (Americans and Brits  ).

Hope you find one :D water bottles on my list for next year, I got Che an original for Germany this year so we have a large cup (though no bottle as Josh is looking after it at after someone left it at D-Day (IF YOU SEE THIS JOSH COULD YOU BRING IT TO F & O AT THE WEEKEND) and it was a snip, even including postage (most of which costs them the same to send it here as it does to their neighbouring countries).

Signed Miss Tightwad that refuses to pay silly prices for anything

I made some replacement strips out of some leather off cuts and glueded them behind damaged sections.

Landser are good for replacement straps.

Zeltplane (Ebay) has a the cup you're after for sale right now. He has them quite regularly.

Try this guy:

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/CONTINENTALMILITARIA-dot-COM

I've ordered from him before, quick and reliable. I've just ordered a repro binocular strap from them for £6 posted and saw the canteen straps on there.

Waterbottles are becoming harder and harder to get hold of. Even German Ebay you can find you'll pay good money. A lot of the sites around the world that have them listed don't actually have them in stock anymore and can't see themselves getting any more. The days of Mr Underpants selling them for £25.00 are look gone I fear.

Usual price between £40.00 and £45.00, if you can get one cheaper grab it. You've got yourself a bargin.

The bakerlite cups are more common SS issue but are a bugger for coming off as there is nothing fixing them to the main body of the canteen.

Good luck
