I've gone and brought a leather greatcoat because it looked good and the price was right. It's not genuine WWII but Wermacht style. I was wondering who would wear such a piece and if I can use it in my loadout?
I'm guessing the common enlisted man would never get such a thing and unlikely to get away with purloining it from a body, so would it be officers only?
Thanks Jimbo

It's not the type of kit you would see in a combat zone. Even on Generals etc you dont see many in the photographic record. Another hollywood fave thats crept into the myth.
Not exactly the ideal material to be battling in. A shirt and tunic are enough for most, a leather greatcoat will kill you if you try and run about all day.

Fair enough, I'll just use it for keeping warm in the safe zone after games in the winter then :D

The greatcoat arrived and it fit's nice and snug, and has to be the most effective BB body armour going! I was happy to use it only in the safe zone as an after skirmish (keeping warm) posing coat untill I brought the book by Laurence Rees "The Nazis a warning from history" and the front cover has Mr Hitler and several high ranking cronies all clad in leather greatcoats!
I'll concede it's not a practical skirmish coat but maybe not so "Hollywood" after all.
Now then, delusions of grandure is a seporate issue, and only one of many with me I'm afraid ;)
