Hi all,
Im looking to buy a M36 tunic, but the pictures i have seen some seem to be grey, while others seem to be green. Is this just the picture quality or the design??
thanks.

There were many different shades of "Feldgrau" (Field grey - the designated colour of the tunic). Some manufacturers make greener M36 tunics than others. Sorry, it's not a great answer, but if you stick to one of the major manufacturers / sellers, you probably can't go wrong.

If you are taller than 6 foot then a Sturm tunic might suit you? They tend to be long in the body.
Try and get to a show and visit a few dealers? You can see what fits best and looks best on you.
Military Odyssey in Kent at the end of August is the next big one I think, then Victory show near Leicester in early September.

better by design

Ok cool, i think i will go for the greyer one because it looks better ![]()

If you are going by colour preference then don't judge by what you see on screen - clap you eyes on the actual thing and make a judgement. Otherwise trust to luck. Meh, what the hell, as Andy says, whatever you get they can be as much 'right' as 'wrong', it's a question of degree and viewpoint.

M36 tunics should not appear grey. Any shade of field grey is still a varying shade of green. Some are browner green and some are lighter shades of green. Officers gabardine tunics and early war trousers are grey but an M36 is not. As already said any of the UK dealers selling M36 tunics will be pretty spot on. the only difference can be the colour of the collar (some are a nice bottle green and some can be a bright green)
Sizes and cuts vary greatly depending on the manufacturer. As mentioned above for those slightly on the larger size Sturm tunics (sold be quite few UK retailors) are a good bet. The Far east copies and those on Ebay can be a little more tailored looking and sometime snug under the arms and around the waist. If your going to be running round the woods in it go bigger rather than tailored.
One other thing is that images on google show some tunics as having the Chest eagle and others dont...
Should they or shouldn't they??

Heer=chest eagle
SS=Sleeve eagle
Eagles for both services are different so make sure you get the right one for your impression.

Yes, they should have a chest eagle, but to my knowledge, the only supplier who sells tunics with all required insignia (chest eagle and collar Litzen) is Richard Underwood. If you buy from elsewhere, you'll have to buy the insignia also.
